Titans had already cemented their spot in the CSA One Day Cup final when they played against Six Gun Grill Western Province at SuperSport Parl on Sunday.

The encounter between the North West Dragons and the Imperial Lions did not even start due to inclement weather, so there was still a prospect for the Cape Town outfit to make the final.

However, the weather also intervened when the Titans were 110/2 after 20 overs, ending the chance of Western Province contesting for the trophy.

The Titans travelled to the Wanderers to play the Lions earlier in the week and had their first batting collapse of the competition when they were all out for 145 runs from 38.2 overs. Gihahn Cloete top-scored with 62 runs off 92 balls.

The Lions equally struggled but just got over the line by making 147/9 after 45 overs, winning by one wicket. Neil Brand was the pick of the bowlers returning with figures of 3 for 22 off his ten overs bowled.

Titans won all their home fixtures this season, scoring over 450 runs in one match and over 300 runs in the other two, losing just 16 wickets when batting. They also bowled out each visiting team in those fixtures.

Titans are the overwhelming favourites to win the CSA One Day Cup final as their performances at SuperSport Park have been powerful displays of batting and consistent wicket-taking.

Protea Heinrich Klaasen scored 414 runs in the round-robin fixtures, with two centuries and a top score of 127. He has an average of 69.00 and a strike rate of 114.05.

Theunis de Bruyn scored 378 runs from his six innings with a top score of 179, the highest in this year's competition. He also has struck another hundred earlier in the season. He has an average of 63.00 and a strike rate of 120.77.

The final round-robin match between the Imperial Lions and the North West Dragons was like a semi-final, with the winner guaranteed a place in the CSA One day Cup final.

The weather was the deciding factor as the umpires called off proceedings at half-past two in the afternoon, with the Lions and Dragons sharing the points.

Western Province now had a chance to sneak into the final if they beat the Titans. However, the weather again decided the game with the Titans on 110/2 when the match was stopped and called off.

The Lions bowled the Titans out for 145 at the Wanderers last Friday. Bjorn Fortuin was excellent with the ball, taking 5 for 34 off nine overs.

What should have been a comfortable chase by the Lions turned into a struggle, but they eventually did enough to score 147/9 from 45 overs and win by one wicket. Mitchell Van Buuren scored 44 off 69 balls faced.

The Imperial Lions have scored between 200 and 250 runs an innings on four occasions and 180 runs or less twice this season.

The Lions need an excellent batting performance against the Titans to give themselves a chance of winning the trophy.

Lions Team News & Injuries

The Lions have struggled in the batting department due to the absence of Rassie van der Dussen and Wiaan Mulder.

Mitchell van Buuren has contributed 169 runs in total, and Dominic Hendricks has scored 162 runs in all his innings this season. They have only managed one fifty between them.

Sisanda Magala has been prolific in the CSA One Day cup competition, taking 21 wickets from seven matches this season, with an average of 12.81 runs per wicket. He has taken five wickets or more on two occasions.
