Ireland were expected to be Sri Lanka’s toughest opposition in the group but they proved too strong. After a slow start in which Sri Lanka last three wickets early, Pathum Nissanka and Wanindu Hasaranga rescued the cause to take them to 171 runs.

Maheesh Theekshana took 3-17 in four overs as Ireland crumbled for 101 runs. That secured a convincing 70-run win.
