The PGA Tour returns to mainland United States after two weeks in Hawaii with Jon Rahm and Patrick Cantlay headlining the field for The American Express in California this weekend.
Si Woo Kim returns to defend his title after victory in 2021 at La Quinta Country Club.
Players will rotate between the Stadium Course, the Nicklaus Tournament Course and La Quinta Country Club.
After 54 holes, all the players who have made the cut will return to the Stadium Course for the final round.
These are our four golfers who could win the event on Sunday.
Jon Rahm
Jon Rahm returned to form at the Tournament of Champions with an impressive runners-up finish behind Cameron Smith, which included a score of 61 in round three.
Before that, world number one Rahm had gone off the boil when missing the cut twice in three starts.
The world number one golfer won this tournament in a playoff against Andrew Landry in 2018 and followed that up with sixth place in 2019. The Spaniard did not play this PGA event in 2020 and 2021.
After his brilliant performance in Hawaii two weeks ago, Rahm will fancy his chances of a strong showing at the La Quinta Country Club.
Patrick Cantlay
Patrick Cantlay had not played any golf since last September when he entered the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii two weeks ago.
His lack of golf did not affect him achieving a credible fourth at the record-scoring PGA Tour tournament.
Cantlay had an impressive string of results towards the back end of last year, winning the Memorial Tournament and the BMW Championship, placing T4 at the Tour Championship and having three top-fifteen finishes.
The world number four finished T9 at this tournament in 2019 and was runner-up here last year after shooting a Stadium Course record of 61.
Talor Gooch
After his maiden PGA title at the RSM Classic last year, Talor Gooch has played two solid tournaments in Hawaii in 2022.
He finished T15 at the Tournament of Champions and T27 at the Sony Open.
A key statistic from those two events is that he has scored in the 60s in seven out of eight rounds of golf and is currently lying 10th in iron play on the PGA Tour.
Before the RSM Classic victory last year, Gooch had consistent results of T4, T11, T5, T11 and 60th.
Gooch has also done well at this event, finishing 4th, T17 and T21 in his previous three starts.
Matthew Wolff
Matthew Wolff has not played on the PGA Tour since placing T11 at the Houston Open last November and will come into the event fresh.
Before that, Wolff has finished T17 at the Sanderson Farms Championship, was runner-up at the Shriners Children's Open and placed T5 at the World Wide Technology Championship.
Although Wolff has no outstanding result to show at this tournament, he is carrying some decent form coming into the American Express and could be in the mix this weekend.
Verdict
Cantlay can go one better this weekend and win the title.
Gooch has done nothing wrong since his maiden triumph and is still a great value bet.
Wolff showed towards the end of 2021 that he is not far off winning his second PGA title.
