In the first Bledisloe Cup match New Zealand won 33-25 before beating the Wallabies 57-22 in the second match to secure the title. Both matches were played at Eden Park, Auckland.

Australia will be hoping for a far better performance on home soil this week. They have suffered two defeats to New Zealand this season already.

The Wallabies will be desperate to get victory in this match to build some confidence ahead of their double header against South Africa. The Bledisloe Cup has already gone to New Zealand but this is far from a dead rubber with Rugby Championship points on the line.

Australia performed above expectations in the first Bledisloe Cup match, losing 33-25 at Eden Park to New Zealand. The second match was vastly different with the All Blacks cruising to a 57-22 win.

The game itself was probably a lot closer than the scoreline suggests. Australia just made crucial errors and New Zealand made them pay for every single one.

New Zealand will be happy with their progress in 2021. They had to settle for two Test matches against Fiji and one against Tonga in the lead up to the Rugby Championship. All those matches were easily won.

In the first Bledisloe Cup fixture the All Blacks led Australia comfortably but let in three late tries. That saw the visitors get within eight points, losing 33-25 at Eden Park.

The All Blacks hit their stride in the second match however, winning 55-22. They were potent on turnover ball and made Australia pay for some crucial errors.

In Australia things may be a bit tougher for New Zealand. The Aussies beat New Zealand 24-22 in 2020, the last match on Australian soil between the two sides.

Ian Foster is missing three first choice players for this match. Flyhalf Richie Mo’unga, lock Sam Whitelock and scrumhalf, Aaron Smith all remained in New Zealand for the birth of their children.

All three Barrett’s start in the black jersey this week – Jordie at fullback, Beauden at flyhalf and Scott at lock.
