Crystal Palace vs Newcastle

Palace have 3 wins and 2 draws in their last 5 home matches and have kept a clean sheet in each of those matches.

Newcastle are strong away from home, with 3 wins in their last 5 matches, beating Spurs, Aston Villa and Chelsea on the road. Their two defeats came against Man City and Barcelona, so they’ve been playing good football.

The visitors have scored in each of their last 9 matches, averaging 2 goals per match, so I’m backing them to score more than one goal in this match, and I’m backing them to win or draw.

Notts Forest vs Aston Villa

Forest are just 2 points above the drop zone and haven’t won at home in 6 matches, although they last played at home over a month ago. They are undefeated in their last 4 matches, which have all been on the road. They followed up a 0-0 draw with Fulham by beating Midtjylland 3-1, Spurs 3-0 and drawing 1-1 with Porto.

Villa are in good form, with 5 wins in 8 on the road, but given Forest’s recent form this has the making of a hard-fought draw.

Sunderland vs Tottenham

Spurs have dropped into the relegation zone, while Sunderland are relaxed in mid-table. Spurs have lost 7 of their last 9 matches, although in their last 3 matches they drew 1-1 away to Liverpool and beat Atletico Madrid 3-2 at home.

Sunderland enjoyed an 11-match unbeaten run at home but their last 3 matches at the Stadium of Light have seen them lose to Liverpool, Fulham and Brighton, failing to score in 2 of those matches.

Although their form in the last two months has been dreadful, Spurs’ last few matches have shown they still have some fight in them, so I’m backing them to pip struggling Sunderland.

Chelsea vs Man City

Chelsea lost 4 on the bounce (failing to score in the last 3 matches) before picking up a 7-0 win in the FA Cup over Port Vale. Their home form has been patchy, with the Port Vale win ending a run of D-D-L-L. This is a good time for City to be travelling to Stamford Bridge.

City are unbeaten in their last 5 in the League and their only recent blips were their two defeats to an in-form Real Madrid in the Champions League. The Citizens pulled off an impressive 2-0 win over Arsenal to clinch the League Cup.

They have also beaten Chelsea in 3 of their last visits to Stamford Bridge, with the other match ending in a thrilling 4-4 draw. There should be plenty of goals, but Chelsea’s defence can be resolute, so I’m sticking with a City win.
