Leeds United’s first English Premier League fixture since 2004 is against champions Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday. United are expected to impress this season, but the Reds are likely to make their first game back a miserable one.

Liverpool Form & News

Champions Liverpool finished their 2019/20 Premier League campaign with a 3-1 victory at Newcastle United.

Jürgen Klopp’s charges have since taken on Arsenal in the FA Community Shield. Forward Takumi Minamino equalised for the Reds from the bench, but Arsenal ultimately won on penalties.

In a recent match, Liverpool ran out 7-2 victors in a friendly against Blackpool. Joel Matip, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Harvey Elliot, Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi, and Sepp van den Berg scored the goals.

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has returned to full training but is unlikely to start, Naby Keita his likely replacement.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is also unfit with Neco Williams to start at right-back. Georginio Wijnaldum has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona and could be on the bench as a result.

New left-back Konstantinos Tsimikas is struggling with illness.

Leeds Form & News

Leeds United are finally back in the English Premier League. Marcelo Bielsa’s team won the English Championship by 10 points in 2019/20.

The Whites ran out victors in 12 of their last 14 fixtures, including 4-0 at Hull, 3-0 against Fulham, 3-1 at Blackburn, 5-0 against Stoke, 3-1 at Derby, and 4-0 against Chartlon.

Leeds have been busy in the transfer market, adding club-record signing Rodrigo Moreno. The Spanish striker is expected to lead the line at Anfield ahead of last season's top scorer Patrick Bamford.

Fellow summer signing Robin Koch should line up in defence. Marcelo Bielsa's side have re-signed left-back Jack Harrison from Manchester City on loan for another season.

Leeds look have a fully fit squad available.

Liverpool vs Leeds Head to Head

Liverpool hold a 50-22 advantage over Leeds with 22 draws in 94 meetings.

The sides last met in the 2016/17 League Cup, with Liverpool winning 2-0 at Anfield.

Liverpool vs Leeds Odds

Liverpool are priced at 1.29 to win the match, while Leeds are available at 11.00 to do the same. A draw pays 6.50.

Liverpool vs Leeds Match Up

Liverpool are incredibly dangerous at Anfield, with their attack striking fear into the opposition. Leeds are a solid side who play good football, but their adjustment to the Premier League may have to wait a week.
