Swallows survived the drop last season after going into the promotion/relegation play-offs. They finished 15th in the PSL table with just four wins in 30 matches before that.

A 2-2 draw at Kaizer Chiefs on the final day wasn’t enough to avoid the playoffs. A 2-1 home win against Cape Town All Stars began the playoffs before a 0-0 draw at University of Pretoria.

The Dube Birds have lost numerous key players in this transfer window. Coach Dylan Kerr lost attackers Kethu Ndlovu and Ruzaigh Gamildien.

Midfielders Dillan Solomons, George Matlou and Kamohelo Mahlatsi have all been sold to Kaizer Chiefs. Waseem Isaacs has joined from Stellenbosch FC to play up front.
