Five Front-runners for the 2024-25 Award
Relebohile Mofokeng (Orlando Pirates)
The young left winger has excelled this season, providing endless chances for teammates. In a campaign where Pirates finished in second place, Mofokeng was their standout performer.
He provided four league goals and five assists as he played 88% of the available league minutes. In all competitions, he contributed to 26 goals (12 scored, 14 assisted).
Lucas Ribeiro Costa (Mamelodi Sundowns)
Without doubt, the right winger is the overwhelming favourite to win this award. In fact, there have been calls for South Africa to naturalise the Brazilian in order to boost their national team.
The 26-year-old won the PSL Golden Boot with 16 goals, and he added nine further league assists. He has 73 shots and 43 successful dribbles in the league.
In all competitions, he ended with 20 goals scored and 13 goals created in a sensational campaign.
Keletso Makgalwa (Sekhukhune United)
The left winger finally delivered on his immense potential this season. He finished with a league-high 11 assists for Babina Noko as his club finished in fourth place.
He created a league-high 17 so-called ‘big chances’ and 68 chances overall, the most in the division.
Iqraam Rayners (Mamelodi Sundowns)
The speedy forward arrived from Stellenbosch FC and hit the ground running. He put up 23 goal contributions in the league with 14 goals and nine assists, both the second most in the PSL.
To have such an impact in just 1,837 minutes – a goal contribution every 80-odd minutes – makes him the signing of the season.
Fawaaz Basadien (Stellenbosch)
The left back was highly influential for the Winelands Club as they finished in third place. With three goals and five assists, he was a consistent weapon from the back.
Football data website FotMob gave him a 7.56 rating for the season, the third-best average across the Betway Premiership.
