New coach Dan Malesela could hand a debut to winger Kethu Ndlovu. Key defender Ricardo Nascimento is fit after a long injury.

Amakhosi finished last season in fifth spot, just two points off second place. New coach Arthur Zwane oversaw three successive losses before a four match unbeaten run to finish the season.

The losing streak was ended by a narrow 1-0 home win against Marumo Gallants. A solid 1-1 home draw with Mamelodi Sundowns came next before winning 1-0 at out-of-form Sekhukhune United.

Chiefs finished the campaign with a 2-2 home draw against Swallows. They scored a late equaliser despite being down to ten men.

Chiefs have had a busy transfer window as seven new players arrived. Striker Ashley Du Preez and centre back Zitha Kwinika headline the signings, both from Stellenbosch FC.

Target men Samir Nurkovic and Leonardo Castro have been released. Centre back Daniel Cardoso and veteran forward Bernard Parker have also departed.
