Flavio Cobolli Form
Flavio Cobolli has shown some class and improvement on grass court this year. However, it must be noted, he had a relatively easy run to the round of 16.
Cobolli cruised past Beibit Zhukayev, Jack Pinnington Jones and 15th seed Jakub Mensik 6-2 6-4 6-2 in straight sets. In the round of 16, the Italian faced a tough competitive in Marin Cilic.
After claiming the first two sets 6-4, Cobolli lost the third on a tiebreak. Momentum seemingly swung but the Italian managed to take the fourth to a tiebreak, where he eventually won.
Novak Djokovic Form
Novak Djokovic has had an acceptable year when you consider his focus points have changed. He is largely focused on the slams and other major events, thus the drop to No. 6 in the world.
However, he reached the semis of the Australian Open and the final of the Miami Masters. The Serb did well at Roland Garros as well, dropping one set in the lead up to the semi-final where he lost in straight sets to Sinner.
The seven-time Wimbledon champion cruised to the round of 16, despite taking four sets to get past Alexandre Muller in round one. Daniel Evans and Miormir Kecmanovic hardly featured such was Djokovic's dominance.
However, in the round of 16, Djokovic ran into an inspired Alex de Minaur. The Australin breezed to a one-set lead with a 6-1 win. Djokovic never quite looked comfortable throughout the match but he showed why he is such a champion, winnng sets two, three and four 6-4.
Verdict
Novak Djokovic is chasing an eighth Wimbledon title. He is likely to face a tough challenge from Flavio Cobolli, but his experience should make the difference in the quarter-finals.
