An elite field of the world's best women's golfers returns to The Club at Carlton Woods to contest the Chevron Championship this weekend. Who will walk away with the honours in Houston come Sunday?

Lilia Vu returns to defend her title after a playoff victory over Angel Yin in 2023.

Past and present major winners in the field for Thursday's tee-off include Allisen Corpuz, Minjee Lee, Yuka Saso, A Lim Kim, Jeongeun Lee, Ruoning Yin, In Gee Chun, Nelly Korda, Sei Young Kim, Hannah Green, Ashleigh Buhai, Anna Nordqvist, Sophia Popov, Hinako Shibuno, Celine Boutier, and Brooke Henderson.

These are our selections that could win the title this weekend.

Nelly Korda

Nelly Korda had a solid start to her year on the LPGA, finishing T16 at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions before hitting superb form on the golf course.

Korda won the LPGA Drive On Championship, the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship, the Ford Championship presented by KCC, and the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards in her subsequent four starts.

The number one ranked golfer has competed eight times at the Chevron Championship, with results of MC in 2014, MC in 2015, T42 in 2017, T13 in 2018, T52 in 2019, T2 in 2020, T3 in 2021 and 3rd in 2023.

Nelly Korda has gone close on multiple occasions at this Major and will fancy her chances to lift the trophy come Sunday as she is in tremendous touch.

Lydia Ko

Lydia Ko was in excellent form at the beginning of her year on the LPGA Tour, winning the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and placing runner-up at the LPGA Drive On Championship.

Lydia Ko has been in solid touch since those performances, finishing T34 at the HSBC Women's World Championship, T4 at the Blue Bay LPGA, T13 at the Ford Championship presented by KCC, and T18 at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards.

The number eight ranked player has compiled an impressive record at the Chevron Championship, placing T25 in 2013, T29 in 2014, T51 in 2015, victory in 2016, T11 in 2017, T20 in 2018, T44 in 2019, 6th in 2020, 2nd in 2021, T25 in 2022 and MC in 2023.

Lydia Ko has tasted success at this tournament before and will have a chance to come out on top for the second time based on the results she achieved in 2024.

Sei Young Kim

Sei Young Kim has found consistency after struggling with her form during last year on the LPGA Tour, placing T13 at the LPGA Drive On Championship, T3 at the Honda LPGA Thailand, T17 at the HSBC Women's World Championship, T15 at the Blue Bay LPGA, T13 at the Ford Championship presented by KCC and T3 at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards.

The 31-year-old has made ten appearances at the Chevron Championship, finishing T61 in 2014, T4 in 2015, MC in 2016, T27 in 2017, T40 in 2018, MC in 2019, T18 in 2020, T3 in 2021, T17 in 2022 and T52 in 2023.

Sei Young Kim has had two top-three places this year and will look to go all the way at The Club at Carlton Woods this weekend.

Ayaka Furue

Ayaka Furue had an outstanding opening two tournaments to her year, placing T4 at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and T4 at the LPGA Drive On Championship before finishing T42 at the Aramco Ladies International and T23 at the Honda LPGA Thailand.

Furue bounced back to form after those performances, placing at the T8 at the HSBC Women's World Championship, 3rd at the Blue Bay LPGA, T27 at the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship, T13 at the LPGA Ford Championship presented by KCC and T18 at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards.

The 23-year-old has featured twice at the Chevron Championship, finishing T44 in 2022 and T52 in 2023.

Ayaka Furue has been achieving excellent results this season and could cause an upset victory in Houston.

Verdict

Nelly Korda has won four consecutive titles on the LPGA Tour and will be hard to stop if she replicates those performances.

Lydia Ko has the form to secure her second Chevron Championship in Houston this weekend.

Sei Young Kim has been in contention to win this year and can make the frame at The Club at Carlton Woods.

Ayaka Furue has been thereabouts this year and can convert her performances into a victory in Texas.
