The Masters History

The evolution of the tournament has seen a number of traditions being added, with the iconic Green Jacket being awarded to the winner since 1949.

The previous year's winner must return the Green Jacket when attending The Champions Dinner, which is held on the Tuesday before each tournament. Only past champions and board members of the Augusta National Golf Club are invited to this prestigious event.

Jack Nicklaus is The Masters' most successful champions, winning six Green Jackets between 1963 and 1986. The first non-American champion of The Masters was our very own Gary Player, who claimed glory in 1961.

The course at Augusta National Golf Club has been improved upon over the years to keep up with golfing trends worldwide. It is considered to be one of the best golf course on the planet.
