The Austrian Open returns to the DP World Tour after a three-year hiatus, where a competitive field will compete for the title at the Gut Altentann Golf Club this weekend. Who will emerge as the winner in Austria come Sunday?

The Gut Altentann Golf Club will host the Austrian Open for the first time since 1992.

John Catlin was the last golfer to win the Austrian Open in 2021.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen

Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen was in great shape at the start of his season on the DP World Tour, finishing T8 at the BMW Australian PGA Championship, T39 at the ISPS Handa Australian Open, and T10 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic before missing the cut at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship and the Bahrain Championship.

Neergaard-Petersen has bounced back to his best lately, placing runner-up at the Qatar Masters, 2nd at the Puerto Rico Open, T22 at the Valspar Championship, T10 at the Volvo China Open, T4 at the Hainan Classic, before missing the cut at the PGA Championship.

The up-and-coming Dane is debuting at the Austrian Alpine Open this weekend.

Neergaard-Petersen has not put a foot wrong this season and can win his maiden DP World Tour title at the Gut Altentann Golf Club come Sunday.

Jordan Smith

Jordan Smith played well at the start of his new season on the DP World Tour, finishing T21 at the BMW Australian PGA Championship, MC at the ISPS Handa Australian Open, and T6 at the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Smith recorded a T65 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, a T27 at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, a T24 at the Bahrain Championship, W/D from the Qatar Masters, a T30 at the Joburg Open, and a T28 at the Porsche Singapore Classic in his subsequent six tournaments.

Smith has found another gear lately, placing 2nd at the Volvo China Open, MC at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, T7 at the Turkish Airlines Open, and T4 at the Soudal Open last weekend.

The Englishman has made two appearances at the Austrian Open, finishing T32 in 2014 before missing the cut in 2016.

Jordan Smith has come good lately and will fancy his chances of winning the title in Salzburg this weekend.

Haotong Li

Haotong Li had a decent start to his season on the DP World Tour, finishing T52 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T22 at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, and T24 at the Bahrain Championship.

Since then, Haotong Li has been in outstanding touch, winning the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters before placing T41 at the Magical Kenya Open, T16 at the South African Open Championship, T9 at the Porsche Singapore Classic, T4 at the Volvo China Open, T51 at the Hainan Classic, T2 at the Turkish Airlines Open, and T4 at the Soudal Open last weekend.

The four-time DP World Tour is debuting at the Austrian Alpine Open this weekend.

Haotong Li has been in fine fettle this season and can secure victory at the Gut Altentann Golf Club come Sunday.

Brandon Robinson-Thompson

Brandon Robinson-Thompson struggled with form at the start of his DP World Tour season, with results of MC at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, T42 at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, and MC at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship.

However, Robinson-Thompson did not take long to rediscover his touch, finishing T8 at the Bahrain Championship, 3rd at the Qatar Masters, T41 at the Magical Kenya Open, T7 at the Joburg Open, and T20 at the Singapore Classic.

Robinson-Thompson's form dipped in his subsequent two events when he missed the cut at the Volvo China Open and the Hainan Classic before finishing 4th at the Turkish Airlines Open and T31 at the Soudal Open last weekend.

The 32-year-old will debut at the 2025 Austrian Alpine Open this weekend.

Robinson-Thompson has been in decent nick this season and is the long-shot value bet in Salzburg.

Verdict

Neergaard-Petersen has been in top form lately and can lift the winning trophy at the Gut Altentann Golf Club this weekend.

Smith can convert his recent performances into a winning result at the Austrian Alpine Open this Sunday.

Haotong Li has been ultra-consistent this season and can win another DP World Tour title this weekend.

Robinson-Thompson has the form to cause an upset victory in Salzburg.
