The PGA Tour and a host of seasoned professionals and rookies head to Utah to compete in the inaugural Bank of Utah Championship. Who will lift the winner's trophy come Sunday?

Matt McCarty is back to defend his title after a three-stroke victory over Stephan Jaeger in 2024.

The Black Desert Championship from last season takes on a new identity this year, following a change in title sponsorship to the Bank of Utah Championship.

Past Major winners Jason Day and Francesco Molinari are in the field.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Maverick McNealy

Maverick McNealy has been thereabouts on the PGA Tour in recent months, placing T5 at the Memorial Tournament, 37th at the U.S. Open, T17 at the Travelers Championship, T22 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T23 at the Open Championship, MC at the 3M Open, T28 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T23 at the Tour Championship, and T13 at the Procore Championship.

Other notable results achieved by McNealy this season include a T8 at the Sentry, a T9 at the WM Phoenix Open, a 2nd at the Genesis Invitational, a T3 at the Valero Texas Open, and a T3 at the RBC Heritage.

The American golfer is debuting at the Bank of Utah Championship this weekend.

McNealy has threatened to produce a top result lately and should enter calculations in Utah.

Michael Thorbjornsen

Michael Thorbjornsen has been in great shape on the PGA Tour lately, placing T4 at the Rocket Classic, T21 at the John Deere Classic, T14 at the ISCO Championship, MC at the 3M Open, T38 at the Wyndham Championship, T13 at the Procore Championship, T29 at the Sanderson Farms Championship, and 3rd at the recent Baycurrent Classic.

Additional highlights achieved by Thorbjornsen this season include a T4 at the Corales Puntacana Championship and a T4 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

The 24-year-old withdrew from this tournament last year.

Thorbjornsen has the form to go all the way and win at the Black Desert Golf Club this weekend.

Kurt Kitayama

Kurt Kitayama has been performing well on the PGA Tour since July, placing T5 at the John Deere Classic, T14 at the Barracuda Championship, a victory at the 3M Open, T31 at the Wyndham Championship, T9 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T19 at the BMW Championship and T48 at the Baycurrent Classic.

Other prominent performances achieved by Kitayama this season include a T5 at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson and a T22 at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

The two-time PGA Tour winner finished T25 at this event last year.

Kitayama has every chance to win the Bank of Utah Championship if he can replicate his recent results.

Thorbjorn Olesen

Thorbjorn Olesen has been in solid form on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour lately, placing T14 at the 3M Open, T62 at the Wyndham Championship, T16 at the Danish Golf Championship, T20 at the Amgen Irish Open, MC at the Procore Championship, T14 at the Sanderson Farms Championship, and T9 at the Open de Espana.

Other noteworthy results achieved by Olesen this season include a 5th at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, a T5 at the Valero Texas Open, and a T7 at the Myrtle Beach Classic.

The eight-time DP World Tour winner is debuting at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship.

Olesen will fancy his chances to secure victory at the Bank of Utah Championship after his recent performances.

Verdict

McNealy has the game to emerge victorious at the Black Desert Golf Club this weekend.

Thorbjornsen comes into the Bank of Utah Championship playing well and should enter calculations.

Kitayama is showing signs that he is ready to win his third career PGA Tour title.

Olesen has been in great touch lately and can cause an upset victory in Utah this weekend.
