The DP World Tour returns to India for the second time this year, where a star-studded field of the world's best golfers will contest the inaugural DP World India Championship this weekend. Who will become the first champion of this new tournament come Sunday?

The Delhi Golf Club has hosted the Indian Open on the Asian Tour and DP World Tour on numerous occasions over the years.

Ryder Cup winners who will tee off on Thursday include Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Viktor Hovland, Shane Lowry and Luke Donald, and past major winner Brian Harman.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Ben Griffin

Ben Griffin has been performing well on the PGA Tour lately, placing T11 at the Wyndham Championship, T9 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T12 at the BMW Championship, T10 at the Tour Championship, and 2nd at the Procore Championship.

Other noteworthy results achieved by Griffin this year include a T4 at the Mexico Open, a T4 at the Cognizant Classic, a T18 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, a victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a T8 at the PGA Championship, a victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge, a 2nd at the Memorial Tournament, a T10 at the U.S. Open, a T14 at the Travelers Championship, and a T13 at the Rocket Classic.

Griffin has the form to win his third tournament of the season in India this weekend.

Viktor Hovland

Viktor Hovland has been producing consistent results on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour lately, placing T7 at the BMW Championship, 12th at the Tour Championship, and T5 at the BMW PGA Championship in his last three starts.

Other notable results achieved by Hovland this season include a T22 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a victory at the Valspar Championship, a T21 at the Masters, a T13 at the RBC Heritage, a T25 at the Memorial Tournament, a 3rd at the U.S. Open, and a T11 at the Genesis Scottish Open.

Hovland has been playing well lately and can emerge victorious at the DP World India Championship this weekend.

Brian Harman

Brian Harman has been in solid form on the PGA Tour lately, placing 8th at the Travelers Championship, T50 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T10 at the Open Championship, T22 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T19 at the BMW Championship, and T13 at the Tour Championship.

Other prominent performances achieved by Harman this season include a T21 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, a T25 at the WM Phoenix Open, a T17 at the Genesis Invitational, a victory at the Valero Texas Open, and a T3 at the RBC Heritage.

Harman has been thereabouts lately and could lift the winning trophy at the DP World India Championship this weekend.

Anirban Lahiri

Anirban Lahiri was in decent nick towards the end of the LIV Golf Tour season, finishing T2 in Virginia, T11 in Dallas, T23 in Andalucia, T29 in the United Kingdom, T34 in Chicago, and T27 in Indianapolis.

Additional highlights from Lahiri's season include placing T10 at the International Series in India (Asian Tour), T12 in Riyadh, T7 in Adelaide, T18 in Miami, and T22 in Mexico City.

The two-time DP World Tour winner has an excellent record at the Indian Open when it was played at the Delhi Golf Club, with results of MC in 2010, T15 in 2011, T3 in 2013, victory in 2015, and T2 in 2016

Lahiri could upstage the others, as he has a proven track record at this golf course.

Verdict

Griffin has performed very well this year and can pocket the winner's cheque come Sunday.

Hovland can convert his recent results into a winning performance at the DP World India Championship this weekend.

Harman has the game to produce a top result in India.
