The first event of the FedEx Cup playoffs begins at TPC Southwind this weekend, where an elite field will compete for the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Who will claim the title in Tennessee come Sunday?

Hideki Matsuyama is back to defend his title after a two-stroke victory over Viktor Hovland and Xander Schauffele.

Past and present Major winners in the field include Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, J.J. Spaun, Brian Harman, Wyndham Clark, Matt Fitzpatrick, Keegan Bradley, Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth, Shane Lowry, Adam Scott, Lucas Glover, and Justin Thomas.

These are our selections that could win the title this weekend.

Russell Henley

Russell Henley has been in excellent touch lately, placing T5 at the Memorial Tournament, T10 at the U.S. Open, T2 at the Travelers Championship, and T10 at the Open Championship.

Other noteworthy results achieved by Henley on the PGA Tour this season include a T10 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, a T5 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a T6 at the Cognizant Classic, a victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and a T8 at the RBC Heritage.

The world's fifth-ranked player has made three appearances at the St. Jude Championship, with results of MC in 2022, T6 in 2023, and T30 in 2024.

Henley has the form to emerge victorious at the TPC Southwind this weekend.

Harris English

Harris English has been in fine form on the PGA Tour since May, placing T11 at the Truist Championship, T2 at the PGA Championship, T53 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, T12 at the Memorial Tournament, T59 at the U.S. Open, T4 at the Travelers Championship, T22 at the Genesis Scottish Open, and 2nd at the Open Championship.

Other prominent performances achieved by English this year include a victory at the Farmers Insurance Open, a T24 at the Genesis Invitational, a T18 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, and a T12 at the Masters.

The world's eighth-ranked player has featured twice at the FedEx St. Jude, finishing T52 in 2023 and T61 in 2024.

English has been having an outstanding season and will fancy his chances of taking home the winner's cheque in Tennessee.

Chris Gotterup

Chris Gotterup has been in fine fettle on the PGA Tour lately, placing T23 at the U.S. Open, T26 at the Rocket Classic, T21 at the John Deere Classic, victory at the Genesis Scottish Open, 3rd at the Open Championship, and T10 at the 3M Open.

Other notable results achieved by Gottercup this season include a T25 at the Farmers Insurance Open, a T16 at the Puerto Rico Open, a T18 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, a T18 at the Corales Puntacana Championship, a T12 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a T15 at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson, and a T13 at the Myrtle Beach Classic.

The two-time PGA Tour winner is debuting at the FedEx St. Jude Championship this weekend.

Gotterup has been holding form since his latest triumph and offers excellent value in Memphis this weekend.

Wyndham Clark

Wyndham Clark has regained his touch on the PGA Tour lately, placing T17 at the Travelers Championship, MC at the Rocket Classic, T11 at the Genesis Scottish Open, 4th at the Open Championship, and T12 at the 3M Open.

Additional highlights achieved by Clark this season include finishing T15 at the Sentry, T16 at the WM Phoenix Open, T22 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and T5 at the Texas Children's Houston Open.

The former U.S. Open champion has competed at the FedEx St. Jude Championship on three occasions, placing T28 in 2022, T66 in 2023, and T7 in 2024.

Clark has come good lately and can win the title at the TPC Southwind this weekend.

Verdict

Henley has featured on the leaderboards throughout the regular season and has the game to secure the title at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

English can convert his recent form into victory at the TPC Southwind this weekend.

Gotterup will start confidently to emerge as the winner in Memphis after his recent displays on the PGA Tour.

Clark has found solid form on the golf course and will fancy his chances to upstage the others in Tennessee this weekend.
