A star-studded field of elite players returns to Georgia to compete for the Masters title at the majestic Augusta National this weekend. Which golfer will win the coveted Green Jacket come Sunday?

Jon Rahm is back to defend his title after a four-stroke victory over Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson in 2023.

A total of 33 past and present Major winners will tee on Thursday at Augusta.

These are our four selections that could win the Masters this weekend.

Jon Rahm

Jon Rahm has not finished outside of the top ten places since his big-money move to the LIV Golf Tour in December last year, with results of T3 in Mayakoba, T8 in Las Vegas, 5th in Jeddah, T8 in Hong Kong and T4 in Miami last weekend.

The 29-year-old Spaniard won four times on the PGA Tour last year at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, the American Express, the Genesis Invitational and the Masters.

The former world number-one-ranked golfer has an outstanding record at the Masters, placing T27 in 2017, 4th in 2018, T9 in 2019, T7 in 2020, T5 in 2021, T27 in 2022 and victory in 2023.

Rahm has not won a tournament so far this year, but he has the game to become the first player to win back-to-back Masters titles since Tiger Woods achieved that feat in 2001 and 2002.

Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele has been in excellent form on the PGA Tour this season, placing T10 at the Sentry, T3 at the American Express, T9 at the Farmers Insurance Open, T54 at the AT&T Pebble Beah Pro-Am, T4 at the Genesis Invitational, T25 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T2 at the Players Championship and T5 at the Valspar Championship.

Additional highlights achieved by Schauffele last year include 4th at the RBC Heritage, T4 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, 2nd Wells Fargo Championship, T10 at the US Open, T8 at the BMW Championship and 2nd at the Tour Championship.

The Tokyo Olympic gold medalist has achieved impressive results at Augusta National, placing T50 in 2018, T2 in 2019, T17 in 2020, T3 in 2021, MC in 2022 and T10 in 2023.

Schauffele has been knocking hard and will fancy his chances to win his first Major and Green Jacket this weekend.

Ludvig Aberg

Ludvig Aberg had a mediocre start to his season on the PGA Tour, finishing 47 at the Sentry and T30 at the Sony Open in Hawai before rediscovering the touch he exhibited last year.

Aberg has placed T9 at the Farmers Insurance Open, 2nd at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T19 at the Genesis Invitational, T25 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, 8th at the Players Championship and T14 at the Valero Texas Open in his subsequent six events.

Other notable results achieved by Aberg last season include victory at the Omega European Masters on the DP World Tour and at the RSM Classic.

The rising superstar Swede is debuting at the Augusta National.

Aberg has every chance to win his maiden Major title at the Masters, as he has been in solid form lately.

Joaquin Niemann

Joaquin Niemann has been in tremendous touch this season, winning multiple tournaments and often finishing inside the top five.

Niemann placed 5th at the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship, victory at the ISPS Handa Australian Open, and T4 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour before returning for the start of the 2024 LIV Golf League.

Niemann got off to a flyer with victory in Mayakoba before finishing T30 in Las Vegas and 3rd at the International Series in Oman (Asian Tour).

However, he bounced back with another victory in Jeddah before placing T4 in Hong Kong and T9 in Miami last weekend.

The 25-year-old Chilean has made four appearances at Augusta National with results of MC in 2018, T40 in 2021, T35 in 2022 and T16 in 2023.

Niemann has found that winning feeling this season and can upstage the others by securing his first Masters title.

Verdict

Rahm cannot be ignored at a Major and has claims to win his second consecutive Green Jacket.

Schauffele is long overdue for a win and has the form to come out on top at Augusta National.

Aberg can convert his recent displays into winning one at the Masters this weekend.

Niemann has been in great touch and can secure his fourth title this season in Georgia.
