The PGA Tour and a stellar line-up of the world's elite golfers converge at Muirfield Village to compete for the Memorial Tournament title this weekend. Who will win the penultimate Signature Event this Sunday?
Scottie Scheffler is back to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Collin Morikawa in 2024.
Past and present Major winners who will tee off at Muirfield Village on Thursday include Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman, Matt Fitzpatrick, Keegan Bradley, Lucas Glover, Shane Lowry, Hideki Matsuyama, Collin Morikawa, Adam Scott, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas.
These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.
Xander Schauffele
Xander Schauffele had a below-average beginning to his season on the PGA Tour, finishing T30 at the Sentry, T40 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and 72nd at the Players Championship.
Since then, Schauffele has threatened to produce a big performance, placing T12 at the Valspar Championship, T8 at the Masters, T18 at the RBC Heritage, T11 at the Truist Championship, and T28 at the PGA Championship in his subsequent five starts.
The two-time Major champion has made seven appearances at the Memorial Tournament, with results of MC in 2018, T14 in 2019, T13 in 2020, T11 in 2021, T18 in 2022, T24 in 2023, and T8 in 2024.
Schauffele brings solid form into this tournament and will be challenging for the victory in Ohio come Sunday.
Shane Lowry
Shane Lowry had a poor to solid beginning to his season on the PGA Tour, missing the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open before finishing 2nd at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and T39 at the Genesis Invitational.
Lowry has been in great touch since those results, placing T11 at the Cognizant Classic, 7th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T20 at the Players Championship, T8 at the Valspar Championship, T42 at the Masters, T18 at the RBC Heritage, T12 at the Zurich Masters in New Orleans, and T2 at the Truist Championship before missing the cut at the PGA Championship.
The former Open Champion has featured seven times at the Memorial Tournament, finishing T15 in 2017, T52 in 2018, MC in 2020, T6 in 2021, T32 in 2022, T16 in 2023, and 49th in 2024.
Lowry will look to cap off his recent displays on the golf course with the victory at Muirfield Village this weekend.
Corey Conners
Corey Conners had an ideal start to his season on the PGA Tour, placing T5 at the Sentry before missing the cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii and finishing T65 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and T74 at the WM Phoenix Open.
Conners has been in excellent touch since those performances, placing T24 at the Genesis Invitational, 3rd at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T6 at the Players Championship, T8 at the Valspar Championship, T18 at the Valero Texas Open, T8 at the Masters, T49 at the RBC Heritage, T11 at the Truist Championship, and T19 at the PGA Championship.
The Canadian has competed at the Memorial Tournament on six occasions, finishing T65 in 2019, T22 in 2020, T53 in 2021, T13 in 2022, MC in 2023, and T20 in 2024.
Conners has been playing well in the past few months and can win the title in Ohio this weekend.
Hideki Matsuyama
Hideki Matsuyama got his new season on the PGA Tour off to a winning start at the Sentry before finishing T16 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, T32 at the Farmers Insurance, and T48 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Matsuyama continued to produce solid results after that triumph, placing T25 at the WM Phoenix, T13 at the Genesis Invitational, and T22 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational before missing back-to-back cuts at the Players Championship and the Valero Texas Open.
Matsuyama has improved since those two disappointing performances, placing T21 at the Masters, T17 at the Truist Championship, MC at the PGA Championship, and T36 at the Charles Schwab Challenge last weekend.
The former Masters Champion has compiled an excellent record at the Memorial Tournament, winning in 2014 and finishing T5 in 2015, MC in 2016, T45 in 2017, T13 in 2018, 6th in 2019, MC in 2020, T62 in 2021, T16 in 2023, and T8 in 2024.
Matsuyama plays well at Muirfield Village and should enter calculations this weekend.
