A competitive line-up of PGA and DP World Tour players has gathered in Sun City for this weekend's Nedbank Golf Challenge title. Who will be crowned the winner of Africa's Major on Sunday?

Johannes Veerman returns to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Matthew Jordan, Romain Langasque, and Aldrich Potgieter in 2024.

Former Major champion Francesco Molinari is in the line-up.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Garrick Higgo

Garrick Higgo has been in great touch on the PGA Tour lately, placing T7 at the Procore Championship, 2nd at the Sanderson Farms Championship, T4 at the Baycurrent Classic, and T4 at the World Wide Technology Championship in his last four starts.

Other noteworthy results achieved by Higgo during 2025 include T12 at the Puerto Rico Open, T3 at the Club Car Championship (Korn Ferry Tour), and a victory at the Corales Puntacana Championship.

The three-time DP World Tour winner will make his debut at the 2025 Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Higgo has hit form lately and will fancy his chances of winning the title at Sun City this weekend.

Angel Ayora

Angel Ayora has been in ultra-consistent form on the DP World Tour lately, placing T5 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, T9 at the Open de Espana, MC at the DP World India Championship, T7 at the Genesis Championship, T9 at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, and T8 at the DP World Tour Championship.

Other notable results achieved by Ayora this year include a T5 at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, a T14 at the Qatar Masters, a T20 at the Magical Kenya Open, a T11 at the Soudal Open, a T19 at the KLM Open, a T7 at the Italian Open, a T13 at the Betfred British Masters, a T8 at the Omega European Masters, and a T5 at the Amgen Irish Open.

The Spaniard will make his debut at the 2025 Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Ayora has looked the part in recent outings and will be challenging for the title at the Gary Player Country Club come Sunday.

Jayden Schaper

Jayden Schaper has regained his touch on the DP World Tour since mid-September, placing 9th at the FedEx Open de France, T5 at the Open de Espana, T6 at the DP World India Championship, T23 at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, and T20 at the DP World Tour Championship.

Other prominent performances achieved by Schaper this year include T21 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T5 at the Qatar Masters, 4th at the Magical Kenya Open, T16 at the South African Open Championship, T9 at the Joburg Open, T24 at the Turkish Airlines Open, T5 at the Austrian Alpine Open, 3rd at the KLM Open, and T10 at the Italian Open.

The South African will make his debut at the 2025 Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Schaper has been there or thereabouts lately and should enter calculations in Sun City this weekend.

Laurie Canter

Laurie Canter has been in fine form on the DP World Tour lately, placing T2 at the Genesis Championship, T23 at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, and T3 at the DP World Tour Championship.

Canter's additional highlights from last season include a 3rd at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, a victory at the Bahrain Championship, a 2nd at the South African Open Championship, and a T7 at the BMW International Open.

The two-time DP World Tour winner finished T21 at last year's Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Canter has been knocking hard lately and can take home the winner's cheque in South Africa come Sunday.

Verdict

Higgo has come good with his game in recent outings and will fancy his chances of winning at the Gary Player Country Club this weekend.

Ayora will look to cap off his recent results by winning the title in Sun City on Sunday.

Schaper has done nothing wrong in recent outings and will fancy his chances of going all the way in South Africa.

Canter has shown improvement lately and has a chance of victory at the Nedbank Golf Challenge this weekend.
