The tournament takes place at the Trump International Golf Links, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

The DP World Tour and players return to Scotland to contest the inaugural Nexo Championship this weekend. Which golfer will become the first champion of this new tournament come Sunday?

The Trump International Golf Links was the host venue for the 2023 and 2024 PGA Seniors Championship.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Marco Penge

Marco Penge has been in decent nick on the DP World Tour lately, finishing T25 at the Soudal Open, T21 at the Italian Open, T11 at the BMW International Open, and T2 at the Genesis Scottish Open before missing the cut at the Open Championship.

Penge's other prominent performances this season include a victory at the Hainan Classic in April and finishing T20 at the Magical Kenya Open, 3rd at the South African Open Championship, and T19 at the Joburg Open.

Penge will have a chance of winning the title if he can replicate his recent result in Scotland.

Jordan Smith

Jordan Smith has been performing well on the DP World Tour recently, placing 2nd at the Volvo China Open, MC at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, T7 at the Turkish Airlines Open, T4 at the Soudal Open, MC at the Austrian Alpine Open, T61 at the U.S. Open, T28 at the Italian Open, 2nd at the BMW International Open, T22 at the Genesis Scottish, and T45 Open Championship.

Other noteworthy performances by Smith this season include a T21 finish at the BMW Australian PGA Championship, T6 at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, and T24 at the Bahrain Championship.

Jordan Smith has recorded three top-five results in recent outings and will have a chance of victory at the Trump International Golf Links.

Kristoffer Reitan

Kristoffer Reitan has been in excellent form on the DP World Tour since the end of April, placing T2 at the Hainan Classic, T33 at the Turkish Airlines Open, victory at the Soudal Open, T2 at the Alpine Austrian Open, T13 at the KLM Open, T46 at the Italian Open, T4 at the BMW International Open, T13 at the Genesis Scottish Open, and T30 at the Open Championship.

Additional highlights from Reitan's season include finishing T24 at the Bahrain Championship and T14 at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

Reitan has performed well this year and can pocket the winner's cheque in Scotland come Sunday.

Francesco Laporta

Francesco Laporta has been producing consistent results on the DP World Tour since the end of May, recording a T11 at the Soudal Open, a T27 at the Austrian Alpine Open, a T7 at the KLM Open, a T10 at the Italian Open, a T7 at the BMW International Open, and a T50 at the Genesis Scottish Open.

Other notable results achieved by Laporta this season include finishing T6 at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, T13 at the Bahrain Championship, T21 at the Qatar Masters, and T19 at the Joburg Open.

Laporta has been in solid form and could upstage the others with a victory at the Nexo Championship this weekend.

Verdict

Penge has gone close to winning lately and can secure victory at the Nexo Championship.

Smith has the form to lift the winning trophy at Trump International Golf Links this weekend.

Reitan has been playing well and can win his second DP World Tour title of the season come Sunday.

Laporta can convert his recent results into a winning performance in Scotland this weekend.
