The PGA Tour makes its second stop in Mexico this year, bringing together a mix of promising rookies and seasoned professionals for the World Wide Technology Championship. Who will emerge victorious and claim the trophy this weekend? 

Austin Eckroat returns to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Justin Lower and Carson Young in 2024. 

Past and present Major winners who will tee off on Thursday include J.J. Spaun, Wyndham Clark, and Francesco Molinari.  

These are our four selections who could win the title this weekend. 

J.J. Spaun


J.J. Spaun has been playing well on the PGA Tour since capturing his first Major title, placing T14 at the Travelers Championship, MC at the Genesis Scottish Open, T23 at the Open Championship, 2nd at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T23 at the BMW Championship, T25 at the Tour Championship, and 6th at the Procore Championship. 

Other prominent performances achieved by Spaun this year include a T3 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, a T2 at the Cognizant Classic, a 2nd at the Players Championship, a T17 at the Truist Championship, a T6 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, and a victory at the U.S. Open. 

The American has made nine appearances at the World Wide Technology Championship. finishing T28 in 2016, T14 in 2017, T3 in 2018, T80 in 2019, T65 in 2020, T27 in 2021, T15 in 2022, T67 in 2023, and T30 in 2024. 

Spaun has the game to emerge victorious at El Cardonal Golf Course this weekend. 

Rico Hoey


Rico Hoey has been in excellent form on the PGA Tour lately, placing T9 at the Procore Championship, MC at the Sanderson Farms Championship, T4 at the Baycurrent Classic, and 2nd at the Bank of Utah Championship. 

Other notable results achieved by Hoey this season include a T11 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, a T12 at the Corales Puntacana Championship, a T7 at the Myrtle Beach Classic, a T11 at the John Deere Classic, and a T8 at the Barracuda Championship. 
The 30-year-old finished T45 at the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship on debut.

Hoey will fancy his chances of taking home the winner's cheque in Mexico come Sunday. 

Garrick Higgo


Garrick Higgo has been in ultra-consistent form on the PGA Tour lately, placing T7 at the Procore Championship, 2nd at the Sanderson Farms Championship, and T4 at the Baycurrent Classic.

Additional highlights achieved by Higgo this season include a T12 at the Puerto Rico Open, a T3 at the Club Car Championship (Korn Ferry Tour), and a victory at the Corales Puntacana Championship. 

The two-time PGA Tour winner has featured three times at the World Wide Technology Championship, finishing T64 in 2021, MC in 2022, and T6 in 2024. 

Higgo has been performing well lately and can go all the way at El Cardonal Golf Course this weekend. 

Michael Brennan


Michael Brennan has been in sublime form on the PGA Tour Americas and the PGA Tour since August, winning the Biosteel Championship, the CRMC Championship, the ATB Classic, and the Bank of Utah Championship in seven starts.

Other noteworthy results achieved by Brennan this year include a T3 at the 93 Abierto Telecom del Centro presentado por Zurich, a T4 at the 70th ECP Brazil Open, a T10 at the Diners Club Peru Open, a T3 at the Bupa Championship, a T9 at the Explore NB Open, a T14 at the Bromont Open, a T8 at the Commissionaires Ottawa Open, and a T10 at the Osprey Valley Open. 

The 23-year-old rookie makes his debut at the World Wide Technology Championship this weekend.

Brennan has hit the ground running on the PGA Tour and can win back-to-back titles.

Verdict

Spaun comes into this event in solid form and can challenge for the title at El Cardonal Golf Course this weekend.

Hoey will aim to go one better than his last start and win the World Wide Technology Championship this weekend.

Higgo has been in great form lately and will fancy his chances to pick up another PGA Tour title in Mexico this weekend.

Brennan has been on top of his game lately and can lift the winner's trophy come Sunday.
