Eighty of the world's best golfers pair up for the sole team event on the PGA Tour, with the Zurich Classic of New Orleans on the line at TPC Louisiana. Which team will lift the trophy this Sunday?
Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are back to defend their title after a playoff victory over Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer in 2024.
Past and present Major winners that will tee off on Thursday include Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Matt Fitzpatrick, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, and Gary Woodland.
These are our team selections that could win the title this weekend.
Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry
Rory McIlroy has had a superb season on the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour thus far, winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the Players Championship, and the Masters.
Additionally, McIlroy has placed T4 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T17 at the Genesis Invitational, T15 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and T5 at the Texas Children's Houston Open.
The five-time Major champion won the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans on debut.
Shane Lowry has made nine appearances on the PGA Tour during 2025, with his best results being a 2nd at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a T11 at the Cognizant Classic, a 7th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, a T20 at the Players Championship, a T8 at the Valspar Championship, and T18 at the RBC Heritage last weekend.
The former Open champion finished T28 in 2018 and placed 13th in 2022 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans before winning the event in 2024.
Thomas Detry and Robert MacIntyre
Thomas Detry has had a busy schedule on the PGA Tour this season, placing T5 at the Sentry, T15 at the Farmers Insurance Open, victory at the WM Phoenix Open, and T22 at the Valspar Championship.
The Belgian has featured twice at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, finishing T13 in 2023 and T8 in 2024.
Robert MacIntyre has been in excellent form on the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour this season, placing T15 at the Sentry, T17 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T6 at the WM Phoenix Open, T11 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, 9th at the Players Championship, and T9 at the Singapore Classic.
MacIntyre missed the cut at the 2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans on debut before finishing T8 in 2024.
Billy Horschel and Tom Hoge
Billy Horschel has not achieved much on this season's PGA Tour thus far, with his best results being T21 at the American Express, T9 at the AT& Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T25 at the Cognizant Classic, and T4 at the Valspar Championship in 12 tournaments.
However, Horschel has an impressive record at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, winning the event in 2013 and 2018 and placing T13 in 2019, T4 in 2021, 2nd in 2022, and T11 in 2023.
Tom Hoge struggled during the opening few months of the PGA Tour season, finishing T8 at the Sentry and T17 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in eight outings. Since then, Hoge has been playing well, placing T3 at the Players Championship, T5 at the Valero Texas Open, T14 at the Masters, and T18 at the RBC Heritage last weekend.
The 34-year-old American has made nine appearances at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, with results of MC in 2015, MC in 2016, T24 in 2017, T10 in 2018, T34 in 2019, MC in 2021, MC in 2022, T13 in 2023, and MC in 2024.
Ben Griffin and Andrew Novak
Ben Griffin has produced some decent performances on the PGA Tour this season, with his best results being T7 at the American Express, T4 at the Mexico Open, T4 at the Cognizant Classic, and T18 at the Texas Children's Houston Open in 13 tournaments.
Griffin missed the cut at the 2023 and 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Andrew Novak has lacked consistency on the PGA Tour this season, securing a 3rd at the Farmers Insurance Open, a T13 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and a T13 at the Genesis Invitational in 11 starts. However, he has come good lately, placing T3 at the Valero Texas Open and 2nd at the RBC Heritage last weekend.
Novak missed the cut at the 2022 and 2023 Zurich Classic of New Orleans before finishing T23 in 2024.
The Format
The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is played over four days, comprising 80 teams of two.
The cut is the top 33 teams plus ties after 36 holes.
Teams play Four-ball for rounds one and three at TPC Louisiana, where the players each play their own ball for the duration of the round, with the best score on each hole recorded.
Teams play Foursomes for rounds two and four at TPC Louisiana, where players rotate tee shots (one player will tee off on even-numbered holes and the other on odd-numbered holes) and strokes.
Player A will tee off, with Player B taking the next shot etc., until the completion of the hole. The total strokes taken between the team will be the team's score for that hole.
