The Australian Open final features a tantalizing clash between world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, seeking his first Australian Open title, and veteran Novak Djokovic, who aims for his 25th Grand Slam. Alcaraz, despite a strong season, has struggled against Djokovic, who has won four of their last six meetings. Both players showed remarkable form to reach the final, with Alcaraz overcoming a marathon semi-final and Djokovic staging a comeback against Jannik Sinner. Carlos Alcaraz vs Novak Djokovic Predictions

Carlos Alcaraz is looking for his first-ever Australian Open title and should he get it, he will have won all the Grand Slams available. The world No.1 has, however, not got the best record against Djokovic, who is seeking his 25th Grand Slam.

Djokovic shocked the tournament by knocking Jannik Sinner out in the semi-final and he can take Alcaraz to five sets here.

Head to Head

Clashes between these two have often been very tight and surprisingly, Djokovic has the better record in recent times, winning four of the last six encounters. Alcaraz won at the US Open in 2025, the last time they met, however, in the Australian Open last year, Djokovic won it four sets.

Alcaraz Form

Carlos Alcaraz started the year with Samuel Lopez as his new coach following the departure of Juan Carlos Ferrero.

The Spaniard didn’t drop a set at the Australian Open, hardly troubled in victories over Adam Walton, Yannick Hanfmann and Corentin Moutet. He beat Tommy Paul 7-6 6-4 7-5 after winning 68% of his 2nd serves and saving 1/2 break points.

The World No.1 flew home to defeat Alex de Minaur 7-5 6-2 6-1 in the quarter-finals. The 22-year-old was involved in an epic semi-final clash against Alexander Zverev, coming through 6-4 7-6 6-7 6-7 7-5 in over five hours.

Djokovic Form

Novak Djokovic withdrew from the Adelaide International but has shown few signs of physical problems at the Australian Open.

The 38-year-old began his campaign for an 11th title with straight sets victories over Pedro Martinez, Francesco Maestrelli and Botic van de Zandschulp.

The World No.4 had a walkover against Jakub Mensik and had more fortune in the quarter-finals. Trailing 4-6 3-6 3-1 to Lorenzo Musetti, he got a free pass after the Italian retired due to a thigh injury.

The Serbian looked down and out on multiple occasions against Jannik Sinner in a dramatic semi-final in Melbourne. He came through 3-6 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-4, saving an incredible 16/18 break points with the defending champion giving up eight.

Verdict

Novak Djokovic shocked Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals, the 38-year-old turning back the clock to close in on an 11th Australian Open title.

Carlos Alcaraz is a short-priced favourite in Melbourne, but it’s unlikely he will have it all his own way.
