Head To Head

They last met in the round of 16 at Wimbledon in 2018, when Anderson won in four close sets. Before that victory, Anderson had never defeated Monfils.
Importantly, Monfils holds a 3-0 lead over Anderson on the hard courts, although their last meeting on this surface was back in 2016.
Kevin Anderson Form
After his opening-round victory, Kevin Anderson put in another solid performance against 17th seed Lorenzo Sonego at the BNP Paribas Open on Sunday.
Anderson emerged as the winner in two tough tie-breakers, 7-6(9/7) 7-6(7/3), after two hours and seven minutes of play. The former 2017 U.S. Open finalist slammed 10 aces and hit 31 winners during the second-round match.
Kevin Anderson must be feeling confident in his current game-play heading into the third round against Monfils and will look to secure his first victory against the Frenchman on the hard courts.
Gael Monfils Form
Gael Monfils recently competed in the final of the Sofia Open in Bulgaria, losing in straight sets to rising star Jannik Sinner of Italy.
Before that loss, he had reached the semi-finals in Metz and the quarter-finals in Canada.
Monfils comfortably beat Gianluca Mager of Italy 6-4 6-2 in the round of 64 at the BNP Paribas Open. The 14th seed now has a total of 12 wins out of his last 17 matches.
Gael Monfils can compete with Anderson's big serve, as he has a record of 28% return games won for the season on hard courts, compared to Anderson's 5%.
