Petro, the last year's finalists, are finding their rhythm again with a 2-1 record in the Kalahari Conference. Despite an unexpected loss to RSSB Tigers, they rebounded with a commanding win over Nairobi City Thunder. Their efficient shooting and robust team performance make them strong contenders for a quarterfinal spot. On the other hand, Dar City, despite their strong performance in the tournament so far, displayed vulnerabilities in their recent loss to Al Ahly. Petro will face off against Dar City in a crucial match to secure their place in the quarterfinals.

Petro seem to have found momentum earlier this week with a commanding win over Nairobi City Thunder. Can they secure a quarterfinal spot this Friday against Dar City?

Dar City are Underdogs

Dar City have had a solid BAL 2026 campaign so far, winning two of their three games in the Kalahari Conference and sitting just one victory away from the quarterfinals.

The Tanzanian champions dominated hosts Joburg Giants 100-70 in the opener, building a 27-point lead by halftime. Nisre Zouzoua led the way with 35 points and five rebounds.

They were pushed harder in the second round by Nairobi City Thunder but held on for a 90-85 win, with David Michinean delivering a standout performance of 39 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Their winning run ended earlier this week with a poor defensive showing in a 118-97 loss to Al Ahly. Despite the defeat, Michael Foster impressed with 37 points on 13/17 shooting.

Petro Finding Rhythm

Petro, last year’s finalists, look like strong contenders again, currently holding a 2-1 record in the conference.

They opened with a convincing 104-90 win over Al Ahly Benghazi, showing excellent efficiency by hitting 42 of 67 field goal attempts, with Childe Dundao scoring 27 points.

However, they failed to justify their favorite status against RSSB Tigers, losing 82-78 with just 36% shooting and poor free-throw execution (23/32 missed).

They bounced back in dominant fashion on Wednesday, crushing Nairobi City Thunder 97-70 after putting up 59 points in the first half. Milton Valente delivered a flawless shooting display, finishing with 14 points and seven rebounds.
