Open de France Predictions - Top contenders for victory in Paris

The DP World Tour and the FedEx Open de France return to Le Golf National after a year hiatus, where a strong field of some of the world's best golfers will compete for the title in Paris this weekend. Who will lift the trophy come Sunday?
Michael Kim is back to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Jeong Weon Ko and Elvis Smylie in 2025.
Former Major winners Matt Fitzpatrick and Cameron Smith are in the field, including PGA Tour players Tommy Fleetwood, Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Aberg, and Ryan Gerard.
These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.
Matt Fitzpatrick
Matt Fitzpatrick has been playing well on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour since the end of June, placing 4th at the Travelers Championship, T3 at the Genesis Scottish Open, MC at the Open Championship, T12 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T28 at the BMW Championship, T21 at the Tour Championship, and T6 at the BMW PGA Championship last weekend.
Other noteworthy results achieved by Fitzpatrick this season include 9th at the WM Phoenix Open, a T14 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a 2nd at the Players Championship, a victory at the Valspar Championship, a T18 at the Masters, a victory at the RBC Heritage, a victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, 2nd at the RBC Canadian Open, and 22nd at the U.S. Open.
The nine-time DP World Tour winner has made five appearances at the FedEx Open de France Championship, finishing T26 in 2014, MC in 2015, MC in 2016, MC in 2017, and T27 in 2018.
Fitzpatrick will start with confidence that he can win the title at Le Golf National after his recent performances.
Ryan Gerard
Ryan Gerard has been in solid form since mid-July, placing T9 at the Open Championship, T8 at the Rocket Classic, MC at the Wyndham Championship, T24 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T16 at the BMW Championship, and 3rd at the Tour Championship before finishing T30 at the Omega European Masters, and T27 at the BMW PGA Championship last weekend.
Other prominent performances achieved by Gerard on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour this season include 2nd at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, 2nd at the Sony Open in Hawaii, a T2 at the American Express, a T11 at the Farmers Insurance Open, a T23 at the Cognizant Classic, a T10 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, and 2nd at the Memorial Tournament.
The American will make his debut at the 2026 Open De France this weekend.
Gerard will fancy his chances to win at Le Golf National as he has gone close to winning a title on multiple occasions this season.
Cameron Smith
Cameron Smith has been in decent nick in his last eight starts, placing T7 at the PGA Championship, T16 in Korea, T5 in Andalucia, MC at the U.S. Open, 4th in the United Kingdom, T28 in New York, and T17 in Indianapolis.
Other notable results achieved by Smith this year include 2nd at the Crown Australian Open, a T13 in Riyadh, a T8 in Adelaide, a T8 in Singapore, and a T17 in South Africa.
The former Open Champion will make his debut at the FedEx Open de France this weekend.
Smith has been there and thereabouts recently and can emerge victorious in Paris come Sunday.
Ewen Ferguson
Ewen Ferguson has been in consistent form on the DP World Tour lately, placing T9 at the Danish Golf Championship, T24 at the Nexo Championship, T15 at the British Masters, T9 at the Amgen Irish Open before finishing T56 at the BMW PGA Championship last weekend.
Additional highlights from Ferguson's season include a T10 at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, a T20 at the Dubai Invitational, a T24 at the Qatar Masters, a T9 at the Investec South African Open Championship, a T6 at the Hero Indian Open, a T4 at the Turkish Airlines Open, a T25 at the Catalunya Championship, a T17 at the Austrian Alpine Open, and a T19 at the Italian Open.
The three-time DP World Tour winner has featured four times at the FedEx Open de France, with results of MC in 2022, T10 in 2023, T37 in 2024, and MC in 2025.
Ferguson has the form to upstage the others and make the frame in Paris come Sunday.

Gerard has had multiple runner-up finishes this season and will have a chance of victory at the FedEx Open de France if he can replicate those results.
