The PGA Tour returns to Texas for the third time this season, where a field of the world's premier golfers will contend for the title at CJ CUP Byron Nelson. Who will emerge victorious this weekend?
Taylor Pendrith is back to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Ben Kohles in 2024.
Past Major winners who will tee off on Thursday include Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Francesco Molinari, Zach Johnson, and Gary Woodland.
These are our selections that could win the title in Texas.
Scottie Scheffler
Scottie Scheffler was in solid form at the beginning of his PGA Tour season, finishing T9 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T25 at the WM Phoenix Open, T3 at the Genesis Invitational, T11 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and T20 at the Players Championship.
Scheffler has been showing signs of winning again lately, placing T2 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, 4th at the Masters, and T8 at the RBC Heritage in his last three outings.
The world's number-one-ranked golfer has made five appearances at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson, finishing T22 in 2014, T35 in 2019, T47 in 2021, T15 in 2022, and T5 in 2023.
Scheffler will fancy his chances to come on top at the TPC Craig Ranch this weekend.
Jordan Spieth
Jordan Spieth lacked consistency during the first two months of his PGA Tour season, with his best results being a T4 at the WM Phoenix Open and T9 at the Cognizant Classic in six starts.
However, Spieth has been in better shape lately, placing T12 at the Valero Texas Open, T14 at the Masters, and T18 at the RBC Heritage.
The three-time Major winner has a long history at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson, finishing T16 in 2010, T32 in 2011, T68 in 2013, T37 in 2014, T30 in 2015, T18 in 2016, MC in 2017, T21 in 2018, T29 in 2019, T9 in 2021, 2nd in 2022, and MC in 2024.
Spieth has the form to go all the way and win the title in Texas this weekend.
Byeong-Hun An
Byeong-Hun An struggled during the opening round of the 2025 PGA Tour season, securing a T22 result at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in six events.
Since then, Byeong-Hun An has been in decent nick, placing T8 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T52 at the Players Championship, T16 at the Valspar Championship, T21 at the Masters, and T38 at the RBC Heritage.
The South Korean golfer has featured three times at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson, finishing T5 in 2017, T14 in 2023, and T4 in 2024.
Byeong-Hun An has the game to challenge for victory at TPC Craig Ranch this weekend.
Eric Cole
Eric Cole struggled to find any rhythm to his game during his first ten starts on the new PGA Tour season, finishing 5th overall at the Sentry and T22 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Cole has improved in his subsequent four starts, placing T12 at the Valspar Championship, T15 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, T26 at the Valero Texas Open, and T18 at the RBC Heritage.
The 36-year-old American finished T23 at the 2023 CJ CUP Byron Nelson on debut.
Cole has been playing well lately and can lift the winning trophy in Texas come Sunday.
