The star-studden field of elite golfers gather at the Royal Troon Golf Club this weekend for the first major the year.  Here is our preview of the best bets to lift the Claret Jug.
  • Ludvig Aberg
  • Collin Morikawa
  • Tommy Fleetwood
  • Tom Kim

Ludvig Aberg

Ludvig Aberg has been on top of his game on the PGA Tour lately, placing 8th at the Players Championship, T14 at the Valero Texas Open, 2nd at the Masters, T10 at the RBC Heritage, MC at the PGA Championship, T5 at the Memorial Tournament, T12 at the U.S. Open, T27 at the Travelers Championship and T4 at the recent Genesis Scottish Open.

Additional highlights from Aberg's season include finishing T9 at the Farmers Insurance Open, 2nd at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T19 at the Genesis Invitational, and T25 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The world's fourth-ranked golfer is debuting at the Open Championship this weekend.

Aberg has been in great shape and has every chance to win his maiden major title at Royal Troon come Sunday.

Collin Morikawa

Collin Morikawa has been outstanding form on the golf course since mid-April, placing T3 at the Masters, 9th at the RBC Heritage, T23 at the Zurich Masters of New Orleans, T16 at the Wells Fargo Championship, T4 at the PGA Championship and T4 at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

He was then 2nd at the Memorial Tournament, T14 at the U.S. Open, T13 at the Travelers Championship and T4 at the recent Genesis Scottish Open last weekend.

Other noteworthy results achieved by Morikawa on the PGA Tour this year include finishing T5 at the Sentry, T14 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and T19 at the Genesis Invitational.

The world's sixth-ranked golfer has made three appearances at the Open Championship, securing victory in 2021 before missing the cut back-to-back in 2022 and 2023.

Morikawa has been a model of consistency this season and will fancy his chances to win his second Claret Jug this weekend.

Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood has been in solid touch lately, placing T13 at the Wells Fargo Championship, T26 at the PGA Championship, T21 at the RBC Canadian Open, T20 at the Memorial Tournament, T16 at the U.S. Open, 15th at the Travelers Championship and T34 at the Genesis Scottish Open last weekend.

Other prominent performances achieved by Fleetwood on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour this season include winning the Dubai Invitational and finishing T14 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T10 at the Genesis Invitational, T7 at the Valero Texas Open and T3 at the Masters.

The world's 11th-ranked player's previous six results at the Open Championship have been excellent, placing T27 in 2017, T12 in 2018, 2nd in 2019, T33 in 2021, T4 in 2022 and T10 in 2023.

Fleetwood has been thereabouts in recent months and can upstage the others with victory in Scotland.

Tom Kim

Tom Kim has been playing well on the PGA Tour lately, placing T26 at the PGA Championship, T24 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, T4 at the RBC Canadian Open, T43 at the Memorial Tournament, 2nd at the Travelers Championship, MC at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and T15 at the Scottish Open last weekend.

Other notable results achieved by Tom Kim this season include finishing T17 at the WM Phoenix Open, T24 at the Genesis Invitational and T18 at the RBC Heritage.

The 22-year-old Korean golfer has featured twice at the Open Championship, finishing T47 in 2022 before placing T2 in 2023.

Kim will look to go all the way and win at Royal Troon this weekend, as he has come good with his game lately.

Verdict

Aberg has shown he is always in a chance with victory this season and has claims for the title at Royal Troon this weekend.

Morikawa has been knocking hard lately, and it will be no surprise to see him win his third Major title come Sunday.

Fleetwood has threatened to produce a top result lately and has played well at the Open Championship in recent years.

Tom Kim has found some solid form and can cause an upset victory in Scotland this weekend.
