Jannik Sinner has won five of his nine matches against Djokovic including the last four matches between the two. They last met in the 2025 French Open semi-final, a match Sinner won in straight sets.

However, they have played each other twice at Wimbledon, in 2022 and 2023 - Djokovic won both games, one of which was a five setter.

Jannik Sinner served a three-month suspension for a positive drugs test after winning the Australian Open earlier this year. It hardly did him much harm as he has comeback in as good a form as ever.

He didn't only win the Australian Open, he also reached the final of the French Open where he lost a five-set thriller against Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian cruised through the first three rounds, defeating Luca Nardi, Aleksandar Vukic and Pedro Martinez in straight sets.

In the round of 16, Sinner needed some fortune to progress. Grigor Dimitrov won the first two sets against Sinner with the third poised at 2-2 when Dimitrov suffered a match-ending injury.

While the world No.1 was fortunate to progress, he cruised past Ben Shelton in the quarters in straight sets.

Novak Djokovic Form

Novak Djokovic has had a strong year compared to most others, but not strong by his standards. That is mainly down to him only playing selected tournaments to keep his body fresh for the majors.

The world No.6 lost out in the French Open semi-final to Jannik Sinner, but grass is where Djokovic has often thrived. The Serb took four sets to beat Alexandre Muller in the first round but cruised past Daniel Evans and Miormir Kecmanovic in straight sets in rounds two and three.

In blustery conditions in the round of 16 against Alex de Minaur, Djokovic dropped the first set but won the next three 6-4. A similar theme took place in the quarters asd Flavio Cobolli won the first set but Djokovic fought back to win 6-7 6-2 7-5 6-4.

Verdict

Jannik Sinner v Novak Djokovic

This should be a very good tussle between two top players. The 39.5 games market offers value while I'm backing Djokovic to roll back the years and win a five setter.
