Race 4 – Emerald Countess (10)

A 1450m turf race between nine horses could end up as a two-horse shootout between Emerald Countess and Porridge Boy, with Shoreybomba a length behind. These two runners are the only horses in the race with a top-three finish in their last five races. Porridge Boy finished third in his last run 32 days ago after finishes of 5-5-8-6.

Emerald Countess has run just 8 times since June 2025, the 4-yr-old bay filly running last of 12 in her first race before finding her competitive feet. Her next 7 runs brought a mix of results of 4-6-9-4 before hitting her straps with a run of 2-6-3 coming into this race. She looks ready to win.

Race 6 – Rosy Lemon (5)

Jockey: S'manga Khumalo

Trainer: Fanie Bronkhorst

There are some hot runners in Race 6, with Mount Etna and Galaxy Queen winning their last race, Line In The Sky winning two races back and Falconfly finishing 4-1-3-2-3 coming into this race.

Falconfly is a hot pick to take the tape, but I’m backing Rosy Lemon in this race. The 7-yr-old bay mare has had a hot streak in her last four races, claiming her 6th career win followed by finishes of 3-4-2. She will be ridden by jockey S'manga Khumalo, who has won twice since 8 March and will be keen to guide Rosy Lemon to a 7th victory.

Race 9 – Tintin (7)

Jockey: Craig Zackey

Trainer: Sean Tarry

This is lining up as a hugely competitive race, with Secret Chord (2-1-3-2-7), Fully Loaded (2-1-7-12-1), Bristol Hercules (2-5-3-2-2), Ringa Ringa Roses (7-3-1-1-2) and Prince of Kildare (2-4-2-2-2) all in good form.

The bookies have Tintin ranked more than 5.00 points above all the other runners in the odds, so that’s a shining light that the 5-yr-old bay gelding has the inside track for the win. Tintin debuted in April 2025 with a 4th place finish before a 198-day break with a change of ownership. He came back storming, finishing 2nd in his next two races before claiming back-to-back wins.

This should be exciting to watch as this talented horse looks to make a major name for himself.

Race 10 – Can’t Catch Me (11)

Trainer: Sean Tarry

Race day ends with a 14-horse field, with Kotinos and Bay Empire two of the form horses. I’m liking Can’t Catch Me, the 7-yr-old bay mare, who has had a month free of racing. She picked up her 3rd win three races back, following it up with two 4th places.

Can’t Catch Me has been a little inconsistent over the past year, finishing near the back of the pack a handful of times, but she’s often up with the front-runners challenging for the line. In her last 13 runs she has placed 4th or higher 10 times and I’m backing her to turn her recent run of 2-4-12-1-4-4 into a win.
