The DP World Tour stays in Australia for the second week running, with the 108th Australian Open up for grabs. Which player will emerge victorious at the Royal Melbourne GC come Sunday?

Ryggs Johnston is back to defend his title after a three-stroke victory over Curtis Luck in 2024.

The Royal Melbourne Golf Club will host the Australian Open for the first time since 1991.

Past and present Major winners in the line-up include Rory McIlroy, Cameron Smith, Adam Scott, Geoff Ogilvy, and Danny Willett.

These are our four selections that could win this weekend.

Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy has been in fine form on the DP World Tour lately, winning the Amgen Irish Open and placing T20 at the BMW PGA Championship, T26 at the DP World India Championship, T3 at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, and 2nd at the DP World Tour Championship.

Other prominent performances achieved by McIlroy this year include winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the Players Championship, and the Masters, and finishing T4 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T17 at the Genesis Invitational, T15 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T5 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, T12 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, T7 at the Truist Championship, T19 at the U.S. Open, T6 at the Travelers Championship, T2 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T7 at the Open Championship, and T12 at the BMW Championship.

The five-time Major winner has featured twice at the Australian Open, winning in 2013 and finishing T15 overall in 2014.

McIlroy has every chance of victory in Melbourne after his recent performances.

Si Woo Kim

Si Woo Kim has performed well on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour lately, placing T14 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T19 at the BMW Championship, T5 at the BMW PGA Championship, T20 at the Baycurrent Classic, T21 at the Genesis Championship, and T4 at the recent RSM Classic.

Other noteworthy results achieved by Si Woo Kim this year include 12th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a T21 at the WM Phoenix Open, a T24 at the Genesis Invitational, a T19 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, a T8 at the RBC Heritage, a T15 at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, a T17 at the Truist Championship, and a T8 at the PGA Championship.

Si Woo Kim will make his debut at the 2025 Crown Australian Open.

Si Woo Kim can convert his recent results into a winning performance at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club this weekend.

Daniel Hillier

Daniel Hillier has been in solid form on the DP World Tour lately, placing T23 at the Open de España, T9 at the DP World India Championship, T38 at the Genesis Championship, T5 at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, T16 at the DP World Tour Championship, and T5 at the BMW Australian PGA Championship last weekend.

Other notable results achieved by Hillier this year include a T24 at the Bahrain Championship, a T25 at the Qatar Masters, a T12 at the New Zealand Open, a T9 at the Hainan Classic, and a T26 at the KLM Open.

The New Zealander missed the cut at the 2022 and 2023 Australian Opens before finishing T23 in 2024.

Hillier has the form to upstage the other with a victory in Melbourne this weekend.

Wenyi Ding

Wenyi Ding has rediscovered his touch from earlier in the year, placing 3rd at the SJM Macao Open, T6 at the Link Hong Kong Open, and 2nd at the BMW Australian PGA Championship last weekend.

Additional highlights achieved by Wenyi Ding in 2025 include a T20 at the Magical Kenya Open, a T14 at the Joburg Open, a T14 at the Porsche Singapore Classic, a T8 at the Volvo China Open, a T12 at the Turkish Airlines Open, and a T24 at the Danish Golf Championship.

The 21-year-old finished T5 at the 2024 Australian Open on debut.

Wenyi Ding has been knocking hard lately and can lift the winner's trophy at Royal Melbourne come Sunday.

Verdict

McIlroy will fancy his chances of securing his second Australian Open after recording two top-three finishes in his last two outings.

Si Woo Kim can secure a victory at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club after his recent run of results.

Hillier has looked good lately and will be challenging for the title in Melbourne this weekend.

Wenyi Ding is showing signs that he is ready to win his maiden DP World Tour title.
