A competitive field of the world's best players returns to Japan to compete in the inaugural Baycurrent Classic this weekend. Who will win the latest event on the PGA Tour come Sunday?

Nico Echavarria is back to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Max Greyserman and Justin Thomas in 2024.

This tournament takes on a new identity this year, following a change in title sponsorship from ZOZO to Baycurrent and a new venue, the Yokohama Country Club.

Past Major winners who will tee off on Thursday include Xander Schauffele, Hideki Matsuyama, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Adam Scott, and Gary Woodland.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele has been in solid form on the PGA Tour during the latter half of the year, placing T25 at the Memorial Tournament, T12 at the U.S. Open, T61 at the Travelers Championship, T8 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T7 at the Open Championship, T22 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, and T28 at the BMW Championship.

Other notable results achieved by Schauffele this season include a T12 at the Valspar Championship, a T8 at the Masters, a T18 at the RBC Heritage, and a T11 at the Truist Championship.

The two-time Major champion has made six appearances at this event, finishing T10 in 2019, T17 in 2020, T28 in 2021, T9 in 2022, T38 in 2023, and T41 in 2024.

Schauffele will be confident of securing victory at the Baycurrent Classic after his strong performance at the recent Ryder Cup.

Alex Noren

Alex Noren has been in tremendous touch on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour since returning from injury, with results of T7 at the 3M Open, T3 at the Wyndham Championship, victory at the Betfred British Masters, MC at the Omega European Masters, and victory at the BMW PGA Championship.

Additional highlights from Noren's season include a T17 at the PGA Championship and a T30 at the Travelers Championship.

The 12-time DP World Tour winner has featured three times at this tournament, finishing T17 in 2020, T18 in 2021, and T48 in 2023.

Noren has been back to his best lately and can emerge victorious at the Baycurrent Classic come Sunday.

Rasmus Hojgaard

Rasmus Hojgaard has been in excellent form on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour lately, placing T16 at the Open Championship, T34 at the Wyndham Championship, 2nd at the Danish Golf Championship, T13 at the Betfred British Masters, T2 at the Omega European Masters, MC at the BMW PGA Championship, and T3 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship last weekend.

Other prominent performances achieved by Rasmus Hojgaard this year include a T14 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, a T22 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a T12 at the WM Phoenix Open, a 2nd at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, and a T23 at the Truist Championship.

The five-time DP World Tour winner makes his debut at the 2025 Baycurrent Classic this weekend.

Rasmus Hojgaard has the form to lift the winning trophy at the Yokohama Country Club after recording three top-three results in five starts.

Chris Gotterup

Chris Gotterup has been playing well on the PGA Tour since the beginning of July, placing T23 at the U.S. Open, T26 at the Rocket Classic, T21 at the John Deere Classic, victory at the Genesis Scottish Open, 3rd at the Open Championship, T10 at the 3M Open, T54 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T33 at the BMW Championship, and T10 at the Tour Championship.

Other noteworthy results achieved by Gotterup this season include a T25 at the Farmers Insurance Open, a T16 at the Puerto Rico Open, a T18 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, a T18 at the Corales Puntacana Championship, a T12 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a T15 at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson, and a T13 at the Myrtle Beach Classic.

The two-time PGA Tour winner finished T71 overall at this event last year.

Gotterup has had success this season and offers excellent value at the Baycurrent Classic.

Verdict

Schauffele has the game to conquer the Yokohama Country Club and take home the winner's cheque come Sunday.

Noren has been in excellent form lately and should enter calculations at the Baycurrent Classic.

Rasmus Hojgaard has been in ultra-consistent form lately and can win his maiden PGA Tour title in Japan this weekend.

Gotterup has the form to win his second PGA Tour title of the season this weekend.
