A stellar field of the world's best golfers returns to Quail Hollow after a year's hiatus to contest the Truist Championship in the penultimate event before the PGA Championship. Who will win the sixth PGA Tour Signature Event of the season come Sunday?

Sepp Straka returns to defend his title after a two-stroke victory over Justin Thomas and Shane Lowry in 2025.

Past and present Major winners in the field include Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Brian Harman, Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Jason Day, Lucas Glover, Keegan Bradley, Adam Scott, Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth, and Gary Woodland.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele battled to find his rhythm at the start of the PGA Tour season, missing the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open before finishing T41 at the WM Phoenix Open.

However, Schauffele rediscovered his touch after those results, placing T19 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T7 at the Genesis Invitational, T24 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, 3rd at the Players Championship, T4 at the Valspar Championship, and T9 at the Masters, and T12 at the recent RBC Heritage.

The two-time Major champion has compiled an excellent record at the Truist Championship, finishing T32 in 2018, T63 in 2019, T64 in 2020, 4th in 2023, T18 in 2024, and T18 in 2025.

Schauffele has been producing consistent performances lately and can secure victory in North Carolina this weekend.

Ludvig Aberg

Ludvig Aberg had mixed fortunes at the start of his season on the PGA Tour, withdrawing from the American Express, missing the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open, and finishing T37 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and T20 at the Genesis Invitational.

Aberg has found another gear since those results, placing T3 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T5 at the Players Championship, T5 at the Valero Texas Open, T21 at the Masters, and T4 at the RBC Heritage.

The Swede finished T60 at the 2025 Truist Championship on debut.

Aberg has strong claims for the title at Quail Hollow, as he has been in fine form in his last five starts.

Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood had an average start to his season on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, finishing 25th at the Dubai Invitational and T41 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, before registering a T4 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and a T7 at the Genesis Invitational, followed by a 49th-place finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Fleetwood bounced back with a T8 at the Players Championship and T10 at the Valero Texas Open before finishing T33 at the Masters, T52 at the RBC Heritage, and T23 at the Cadillac Championship last weekend.

The eight-time DP World Tour winner has a solid record at this event, with results of MC in 2018, T14 in 2021, T5 in 2023, T13 in 2023, and T4 in 2025.

Fleetwood looks set to emerge as the winner of the Truist Championship this weekend.

Sudarshan Yellamaraju

Sudarshan Yellamaraju had a decent start to his season on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, finishing T25 at the BMW Australian PGA Championship, T13 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, MC at the American Express, T56 at the Farmers Insurance Open, and T54 at the WM Phoenix Open.

Yellamaraju found form after those results, placing T17 at the Cognizant Classic, T37 at the Puerto Rico Open, T5 at the Players Championship, T6 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, and T14 at the Valero Texas Open before finishing T52 at the RBC Heritage, 34th at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, and T30 at the Cadillac Championship last weekend.

The 24-year-old will make his debut at the Truist Championship this weekend.

Yellamaraju could upstage the others at Quail Hollow, as he has been there and thereabouts this year.

Verdict

Schauffele has done nothing wrong lately and can emerge as the winner at the Truist Championship this weekend.

Aberg has threatened to win a big tournament in 2026 and can lift the trophy at Quail Hollow come Sunday.

Fleetwood has the game to secure victory in North Carolina come Sunday.

Yellamaraju has had a solid season and offers excellent value this weekend.
