The 3-yr-old bay gelding Warrior’s Edge is a huge favourite at 2.20 and should be pushing the tape. Joint-third favourite Aethelwulf ran 4-3-3-5-3 before sneaking a 2nd place finish in a field of 13 on 5 December, commanding the second spot for the whole race but just not having the legs to haul in the leader.

Race 4 – Donny’s Boy (5)

There’s a fair sprinkling of winners in this field, with Golden Grey (5.50) and Olive Oyl (4.00) the hot tips, but both have finished in 7th or lower in their last two runs. The form horse looks to be Donny’s Boy, running 1-5-3 in his last three races. The 4-yr-old has had a light race schedule this year so he should be full of running.

Race 6 – Baie Mooi (2)

It should be a good day for Baie Mooi, but it won’t be easy in a tough field of race winners. Avernian Goddess, State Secret, Jet Lavish and Augusta Rosso have wins within their last four races, but Baie Mooi is the in-form filly. The 4-yr-old has had her hooves up for 46 days, so she should be full of running to pick up two wins followed by a 5th place and a 2nd place in her last four races.

Race 8 – Teerex (10)

Jockey: Bavish Soodoo | Trainer: Kelly Mitchley

Teerex will have to pull out all the stops to claim his wreath. The 5-yr-old will need to nose ahead of five other horses that should finish ‘within the leather’, with Porfirio and Cadenza coming into this race on the back of wins in their last runs. Teerex ran just 10 days ago, so his blood will still be pumping and he should be good to pull off his win after running 4-2-2-4-2-3 in his last six starts.
