Race 1 – Marseilles (4)

Jockey: Andrew Fortune | Trainer: Justin Snaith

The field of eight has been cut in half through four withdrawals. The 2-yr-old bay colt placed second in his first race a month ago at Kenilworth over the short 800m course. He finished a length behind the winner but rode hard to maintain his second place in the chasing pack.

Race 3 – Another Dream (3)

Jockey: Luyolo Mxothwa | Trainer: Lucinda Woodruff

This looks like a two-horse race in a field of seven, with Another Dream and Ukuduma the two favourites to battle it out for the line. Both placed 6th in their last race after a racing break of over 100 days. Ukuduma had two first places, again with a substantial break between them, but Another Dream’s break was preceded by three wins in a row. I’m backing Another Dream’s greater consistency and endurance to take the race, but the younger Ukuduma’s fresh legs might be an advantage.

Race 6 – All the Rage (4)

Jockey: A Domeyer | Trainer: Candice Bass

Cognac and Empire State both have two wins in their last three races, but I’m backing All the Rage to take this one by a length and change. All the Rage has been well managed over the past year and the bay colt should be fresh to outrun the pack. His last six runs have seen him place 1-3-3-1-1-3, so he has stamina and an appetite for the line.

Race 9 – Got the Look (4)

Jockey: A Domeyer | Trainer: Candice Bass

Shesgotclass and One Dance are two strong runners in this field of 11 to end the day’s racing. Shesgotclass has run 3-5-3-2 leading up to this meet, while One Dance has been on a super run of form (2-2-2-3-1), but there are six other recent winners in the field. I’m pinning my ribbon on Got the Look, who has run 3-4-2-2-1. The 3-yr-old bay filly is coming off a short 39-day break and should be champing at the bit to eat up the field.

Marseilles to run away with it from a novice field, Another Dream to hold out fellow-winner Ukuduma in a tight finish, while Got the Look to clean up in the final race of the day.
