Race 3 – Delaware River (2)

Jockey: S'manga Khumalo | Trainer: Stuart Pettigrew

The 3-year-old filly looks full of running and comes into the race on the back of improving runs of 4-4-3-2 after a 60-day break. Aquarius (3.00) is likely the only challenger in an eight-horse field.

Race 6 – Douglas Dragon (3)

Jockey: Rachel Venniker | Trainer: Mark Khan

A tight field of seven horses is likely to see four horses pushing for the tape at the end. Douglas Dragon is my pick to take the tape, with Arlington Action (7.00), Chabal (5.00) and Corrupt (4.00) all in the running.

Race 8 – Kisshoten (3)

Jockey: Calvin Habib | Trainer: Tony Peter

By the formbook this looks like a two-horse tussle between two mighty 5-year-old mares. Callmegetrix has had an amazing year, running 1-2-2-2-2-10-1-2-1-2, but I’m pinning my ribbon to Kisshoten, who has won three of her last four races.

Race 10 – Banyan (4)

Jockey: Keagan De Melo | Trainer: Johan J Vuuren

A large but scattered field to end the day’s racing with five horses pushing hard for the line. Top Division, Old Fashioned (two wins in last two runs), Lonely As A Cloud and Twentytwentyvision should all be in the running. I’m backing Banyan to push through at the end to take it as he will be bristling from a spread of 3-4-3-3 finishes on the back of his win in August.

Verdict

Delaware River to have an easy go of things, while Douglas Dragon will need to scrap for the win.

Kisshoten to hold off Callmegetrix in a thrilling finish, with Banyon to take the final race of the day.
