Race 2 – Space Mission (11)

Jockey: Kabelo Matsunyane | Trainer: SG Tarry

Space Mission is my choice to break the line first, but it will be a nervy battle against Geostorm (3.00), Stoneywood (4.00) and possibly even Ringho (15.00). Ringho has had a heavy workload in the last two months, finishing fourth twice and third twice, so the bay gelding likes to work… but the three-year-old chestnut Space Mission is my favourite as he is fresh from a four-month break.

Race 4 – Francilien (2)

Jockey: R Fourie | Trainer: Michael Nicholas Houdalakis

The four-year-old bay filly enjoyed a 197-day break and then hit two second-place finishes in a month. An energetic runner, the way she stormed through the field and pushed Komati River to the line in her last race was inspiring. I fancy her to break from the field for a strong win.

Race 7 – Mizzen Sword (3)

Jockey: Jarryd Penny | Trainer: Mark Khan

Mizzen Sword has had a busy year, with six top three finishes in his last 11 races. I’m fancying him to snag a second win of the year, but he’ll have to hold off strong challenges from Peace Treaty (3.75) and Full Go (15.00)

Race 9 – Future Date (5)

Jockey: Malesela Katjedi | Trainer: D Gray St John

Future Date is clearly full of running, as the bay filly is hitting her third race in a month, with a third and fifth place to show for it. Trainer D Gray St John clearly has faith in her, which is where mine is coming from. I fancy race favourite Dimako’s Jet (4.0) and Pretty Analia (5.50) to push her hard to the tape.

Mizzen Sword (Race 7) and Future Date (Race 9) could both win with photo finishes.
