Australia vs Zimbabwe Predictions

Australia battled past New Zealand in a 56-50 win that ensures they come into the Netball World Cup in winning mood.

Zimbabwe were edged 49-43 by the President's XII in their last match to see their winless run stretch to five matches.

Head to Head

The pair last met back in 2019 as Australia hammered Zimbabwe 73-37.

Australia Form

Australia have stretched their winning run to six matches with their second win over New Zealand following victories over England twice and South Africa twice.

The Aussies always seem to hit top form at the perfect time in a World Cup year, and they have managed to defeat their main rivals for the crown over the course of the last year.

If Australia continue to build on those wins and improve across the tournament, it is very difficult to see how any side can stop them.

Zimbabwe Form

Zimbabwe have the unenviable job of taking on the tournament favourites in the first match of the World Cup.

Without a win in their last five, with three games ending in defeats and two in draws, Zimbabwe arrive in no real form, and I worry that they will have to endure a hammering in this game.

Perhaps this outing will be more about damage control, while it will also provide a good chance for them to learn from the very best in the game.

It is difficult to see anything other than a big Australian win in this one, with the Aussies likely to win very handsomely.
