Alcaraz was too good for Matteo Arnaldi in the fourth round, victorious 6-3 6-3 6-4 on the back of winning 60% of his 2nd serves and saving 0/1 break point.

In the quarter-finals, he brushed aside Alexander Zverev in comfortable fashion with a 6-3 6-2 6-4 victory.

Daniil Medvedev Form

Daniil Medvedev is 54-11 this year, winning titles in Rotterdam, Doha, Dubai, Miami and Rome.

The Russian had a slow start on the hard court swing, beaten by Alex De Minaur in the Canadian Masters quarter-finals and Alexander Zverev in the Cincinnati Masters third round.

The World No.3 thrashed Attila Balazs 6-1 6-1 6-0 in the US Open first round before defeating Christopher O’Connell 6-2 6-2 6-7. He was too good for Sebastian Baez in the third round, getting through 6-2 6-2 7-6.

Medvedev turned the tables on Alex de Minaur 2-6 6-4 6-1 6-2 in the fourth round before defeating compatriot Andrey Rublev 6-4 6-3 6-4 in the quarter-finals.
