Race 4 - WAR OF ATHENA (3)
WAR OF ATHENA won a good race in her last start over 1600m on this course. She has won three times, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. The classy daughter of Act Of War should notch up her 12th career victory this afternoon.
Race 5 - ABLAAN (1)
ABLAAN is unbeaten from two starts to date. The manner in which he drew away from the opposition in his last start over this distance at the Vaal was eye-catching. The son of Silvano returns from a 13- week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and if not in need of the run, he can follow up.
Race 6 - RIVERSTOWN (9)
RIVERSTOWN finished 4 lengths behind BATTLE FORCE last time. He is 6kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The 10-week break would have done him the world of good and if keeping on a straight line, he can return to winning ways.
Race 7 - BIG BURN (2)
BIG BURN has top consistent form lines to her credit. She was unlucky in the Grade 3 Magnolia Handicap as she was bumped at the 150m mark. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She always gives of her best and can notch up her fifth career victory.
Race 9 - ZEUS (8)
ZEUS was super-impressive when winning his last start over 1600m at the Vaal. The manner in which he quickened up and drew clear of the opposition was eye-catching. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Soft Falling Rain clearly has class about him and should keep his unbeaten record intact.
Verdict
Zeus (Race 9) is Magic Tips' best bet of the day at Turffontein on Saturday.
