Ngezana Gets His Big Move

The 25-year-old Amakhosi development player has completed a move to Romania to play for Fotbal Club FCSB. The giants were known as Steaua Bucharest until 2017 until a dispute with the Romanian military saw them change their name.

Ngezana is a South African Under 23 international but he has been called up to full international squads without making his debut.

How He Performed Last Term

It was a mixed 2022-23 season for the defender. He was initially in the starting XI but two mistakes in a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns saw him booed by his own fans. He faced a couple of months on the bench as an iffy display vs Cape Town City saw him dropped for 13 of the next 15 fixtures.

Ngezana fought his way back into the lineup after the 2022 FIFA World Cup and coach Arthur Zwane named him in the XI for 15 of their final league and Cup matches.

Which Positions Can Ngezana Play?

Ngezana is a right-footed centre back. He has often deputized at right back to good effect, especially in the 2019-20 season under Gavin Hunt.

He has featured in a back three on numerous occasions as well as in a back four. His versatility will come in handy for his new club, which are competing in the Europa Conference League next season.

Kaizer Chiefs Sign Two Replacements

This sale won’t overly harm Amakhosi are they have signed two new central defenders. Given Msimango has joined from TS Galaxy and was named in the provisional Bafana Bafana squad during the current FIFA break.

Thatayaone Ditlhokwe has also come on board from SuperSport United after his contract with his former club came to an end.

Chiefs still have Edmilson Dove, Njabulo Ngcobo and Zitha Kwinika at the club in the centre back role too. Veteran Erick Mathoho has been released after playing just one minute in the 2022-23 season.
