Edinburgh vs Bath Predictions

Bath are favourites arriving in Scotland, however, Edinburgh are very competitive at home despite their average season to date. I expect the hosts to push Bath all the way and cover the +9.5 handicap.

  • Bath have won 13 of their last 15 Rugby Premiership matches.

Head to Head

Back in 2022, Edinburgh beat Bath 41-19 at home. Both sides have changed plenty since then, so it’s doubtful that it will have an effect on Saturday’s game.

Edinburgh Form

Edinburgh have not had one of their stronger seasons but have still managed to secure a home semi-final for the Challenge Cup. In the URC, they are fighting for a top eight finish after a string of poor results.

However, in the Challenge Cup, clearly a target for the Scottish side, they’ve performed well. This should be a very good test to see where they are.

Last week, Edinburgh rested numerous players in a 25-25 draw in Italy against Zebre. They lost 18-17 to the Sharks at home a week before that but did beat the Bulls and Lions at home in their two prior games in the Challenge Cup.

Edinburgh Injuries & Team News

Edinburgh will make numerous changes to their side from last week after resting key players. This will be their biggest game of the season, so expect nothing less than full strength.

Bath Form

Bath are flying under South African coach, Johann van Graan. They have had a magnificent season, winning 13 of 15 Rugby Premiership games thus far and reaching the semi-final of the Challenge Cup.

To get here, Bath beat Pau 49-24 away in the last 16 before thrashing Gloucester 61-26 at home in the quarter-final.

In the last two fixtures, Bath beat Exeter 26-24 away and Newcastle 55-19 at home in the Premiership. Top spot in the Premiership is already confirmed, but Bath would love to add another European title to their collection.

Bath Injuries & Team News

Bath are a well oiled machine and will no doubt be at full strength. Talisman flyhalf, Finn Russel will be key to Bath’s success, as he always is, but first, the pack must match Edinburgh.

Verdict

Edinburgh have a good side and at home expect them to challenge. I’m backing the hosts to get within 9 points.
