This is a tough one to call on the opening weekend. Quins narrowly lost to Bath at home last season but this time around I feel the visitors will cover the -3.5 handicap.

Bath beat Harlequins three times last season, twice of which were in the Premiership. Bath won 26-24 away and beat the Quins 47-28 at home.

Harlequins finished the 2024/25 Premiership season with eight wins from 18 matches. One draw and nine defeats meant they ended up seventh, 10 points adrift of the playoff places.

It was another inconsistent year for the former champions. Despite their obvious quality and their very appetizing brand of rugby, they continuously fail to get over the line in tight games.

There will be hope for the season ahead as the Premiership is quite competitive, particularly among the top eight sides last season. The emergence of Newcastle could make for a cracking season this time around.

The Quins have the squad to challenge; they just need to put it together consistently. Marcus Smith will be hopeful of playing himself back into the England 10 jumper while James Chisholm and Chandler Cunningham-South will also be keen to impress Steve Borthwick at England.

Bath eventually managed to claim the Premiership title after more than three decades last season. They went all the way, beating Leicester Tigers in the final.

In the regular season, Bath won 14 of their 18 matches, ending with a positive 234 points difference. To put that into context, no other side managed more than 100 in the positive.

After cruising to first place with 72 points, Bath beat Bristol in the semi-final and proved just too good for the Tigers at Twickenham.
