Edinburgh vs Bulls Predictions

Edinburgh lacked consistency in recent outings, but they tend to play their best rugby at home. The Bulls had a solid win last weekend, but they have a poor record against Edinburgh at home.

  • Edinburgh have won 2 of their last 5 fixtures in all competitions.
  • Edinburgh have won 5 of their last 6 home matches in all competitions.
  • Edinburgh have won 3 consecutive home games against the Bulls.
  • Bulls have lost 7 of their last 8 fixtures in all competitions.
  • Bulls have lost 4 of their last 5 away games in all competitions.
  • Bulls have won 2 of their last 3 matches against Edinburgh.

Head to Head

Edinburgh and the Bulls have each recorded three victories in six meetings.

Edinburgh Form

Edinburgh had mixed fortunes in their recent Investec Champions Cup matches, beating Gloucester at home 26-24 before being thrashed 63-10 away to Bath.

Edinburgh have played only three home matches in the URC this season. They defeated Benetton 43-0 and the Ospreys 19-17 before losing to the Glasgow Warriors 21-3.

Edinburgh are 10th in the United Rugby Championship standings with 17 points from eight matches.

Edinburgh have been in solid form at home this season, winning three of their last four games, and they have never lost to the Bulls in their own backyard.

Bulls Form

The Bulls recently contested back-to-back fixtures in the European Rugby Champions Cup, losing 61-49 at home to Bristol before securing a narrow 26-24 away win over Pau.

The Bulls have had little success away from home in the URC this season. They lost 28-7 to Ulster and defeated Connacht 28-27 before losing 21-12 to the Glasgow Warriors, 21-12 to the Sharks, and 13-8 to the Stormers.

The Bulls are 11th in the United Rugby Championship standings with 16 points from 11 matches.

The Bulls will be pleased to have ended their losing streak on the road, but they are likely to find the going tough in Edinburgh, as their opponents have won all three of their meetings in Scotland.

Team News

Edinburgh

Head coach Sean Everitt has highlighted that his team need to match the Bulls from the outset of the match: “We know exactly what the Vodacom Bulls bring. Their squad is packed with Springbok talent and they play a physical, high-intensity brand of rugby. We have to match that physicality from the very first minute if we want to come out on top.

“We are proud of our unbeaten run at Hive Stadium this season and we want to keep it that way for our fans. They have been incredible all year, and it’s vital they get behind us from the first whistle this Friday night to help us get the result this team is working so hard for.”

Bulls

Head coach Johan Ackermann has stated that his team is still aiming to produce a complete performance: "That is the next step for us, to get our game accurate for longer periods. No game will ever be perfect. You will make mistakes and be without the ball for periods of the game. We need to be more clinical with the ball.

"We keep working on the same aspects in training, so hopefully we can now transfer it onto the field."

Verdict

Edinburgh have an excellent record against the Bulls at home and are tipped to cover the +3.5 handicap.
