Leinster vs Scarlets Predictions

Leinster have lost back-to-back league games but have been in top form at home this season. The Scarlets have had little success away from home in this edition of the URC and have a poor record at Leinster.

  • Leinster have won 3 of their last 5 fixtures in all competitions.
  • Leinster have won 6 consecutive home matches in all competitions.
  • Leinster have won 7 consecutive home games against the Scarlets.
  • Scarlets have lost 4 of their last 5 away fixtures in all competitions.
  • Scarlets have lost 6 of their last 7 away games against Leinster.

Head to Head

Leinster have a commanding lead of 25 victories to eight against the Scarlets, including two draws in 35 meetings.

Leinster Form

Leinster had no answer against the Glasgow Warriors in their URC clash last weekend, losing 38-17 after trailing their hosts 26-12 at half-time.

Leinster have been in excellent form at home in the league this season. They defeated the Sharks 31-5, lost 31-14 to Munster, and then beat Zebre 50-26, Munster 24-20, Connacht 52-17, and Edinburgh 28-20.

Leinster are 4th in the United Rugby Championship standings with 41 points from 13 matches.

Leinster have not been at their best lately, but will relish the opportunity to pocket all the points on offer when they take on a Scarlets side they have defeated seven times consecutively at home.

Scarlets Form

The Scarlets secured a 36-17 home win over Zebre last weekend, putting the game to bed in the first half after leading 24-0 at the break.

The Scarlets have struggled away from home in the URC this season. They lost 29-18 to the Lions, 29-19 to the Sharks, defeated Cardiff 21-17, lost 28-5 to the Dragons, and drew 20-20 with Benetton before losing 24-19 to Edinburgh, and 31-14 to Connacht.

The Scarlets are 14th in the United Rugby Championship table with 21 points from 13 matches.

The Scarlets are winless in their last five games on the road, and they have struggled to beat Leinster in recent seasons, losing six of their last seven matches.

Team News

Leinster

Andrew Porter is fit again and set to return to the starting line-up against the Scarlets.

Ryan Baird is expected to return to training after a lengthy layoff.

James Ryan has a calf problem and is a doubtful starter.

Springbok RG Snyman will be assessed later in the week.

Scarlets

Ryan Elias and Marnus van der Merwe are unlikely to feature against Leinster, as both hookers went off with head injuries last weekend.

Verdict

Leinster are on a winning streak against the Scarlets at home and are tipped to cover the -21.5 handicap.
