Leinster vs Sharks Predictions - Sharks backed in handicap market against Leinster

Last updated: 2 hours ago

This URC match sees Leinster, the reigning champions, eagerly awaiting the Sharks challenge as they compete with the advantage of returning star players. Despite a disappointing start with two recent losses, Leinster is expected to regain form. Although the Sharks are winless this season, the return of key international players could make this game closer than the 26.5-point handicap suggests. Fans can look forward to a thrilling showdown with the Sharks aiming to capitalize on any Leinster vulnerabilities.

Leinster vs Sharks Predictions

Leinster are huge favourites now that their star players have all returned following a disappointing South African tour. However, the Sharks also have a few internationals back this weekend, so while the visitors have struggled, I can see them getting within the 26.5 handicap.

  • Sharks welcome back 4 internationals this weekend.

Head to Head

Leinster beat the Sharks 10-7 in Durban last season.

Leinster Form

Leinster find themselves in a very unusual spot down in 15th place after two rounds. They have lost both games and picked up a solitary bonus point.

The defending champions will, however, not be concerned. Their tour to South Africa, where they lost 35-0 to the Stormers and 39-31 to the Bulls without the majority of their star players, will be of little worry. Things will no doubt change as the season progresses.

Last week, Leinster made seven changes to their side that lost to the Stormers and performed a lot better. While they lost, that game could easily have gone in the Irish sides favour.

Leinster Team News

Leinster should have a much stronger side out on the park as well with their British & Irish Lions players returning following a break.

Sharks Form

The Sharks have made a disappointing start to the URC season but will hope things can improve from hereon in. This is their final tour game before returning back to Durban.

After losing 35-19 in round one to Glasgow, the Sharks were very poor in their 17-17 draw against the Dragons in Newport last week. It was a game they would have targeted for victory away from home but they made far too many errors.

Sharks Team News

There are a few Springbok players returning to action this weekend with Ethan Hooker and Makazole Mapimpi starting and Vincent Koch and Bongi Mbonambi starting on the bench. Flyhalf Siya Masuku also returns from injury.

Verdict

The Sharks have been poor but are getting a few players back, much like Leinster. I do believe the hosts will be too good but the 26.5 handicap is far too big in my opinion. Sharks are backed to cover.
