The Sharks have been dreadful this year, but they have shown a recent upturn in form. Not only have they won their last two games, but they also came within a point of beating the Stormers in Cape Town at the end of December.

The Sharks are enduring a miserable season in the URC. They are bottom of the table with just one win and eight defeats in nine matches.

To say the Durban side have disappointed would be an understatement. They have spent a lot of money on players in the last couple of seasons, but the benefits are not being reaped. The side they can put out should certainly be competing near the top of the table.

The Sharks have actually won their last two matches at home to Oyonnax and at the Dragons, but both of those were in the Challenge Cup. Their last two URC games saw them lose by a point to the Stormers and by two points to the Lions.

Nothing has worked for the Sharks this season so they may yet again make a few changes to their side. They have not played for some time so the players should feel fresh.

The Stormers season has not been poor, but it has been below par. They are currently seventh on the table with five wins and four defeats in nine games.

The Cape Town-based outfit have been in the final for the last two seasons, winning one and just coming up short to Munster last year. This season, while they are far from out of it, they have not threatened as they should have.

However, John Dobson’s side are on a five-match winning streak since scoring in the final minute to beat La Rochelle at home in mid-December 2023. They went on to beat the Bulls, Sharks and Sale at home before seeing of Stade Francais away in their last game.
