South Africa will feel they are in the pound seat after being the only victorious team in round one. After last season’s second place finish in the U20 Rugby Championship, they will be keen to get a win on home soil.

Last weekend, the Baby Springboks started well before allowing Argentina to score some soft tries. Despite trailing at halftime, they demonstrated resilience and determination to secure a 36-25 victory after 80 minutes.

Defensive lapses cost them dearly in those first 40 minutes, but an efficient, physical performance in the second half saw the hosts win with some room to spare.

As per last season, South Africa are expected to ring the changes in this second outing. With New Zealand to follow later this week, South Africa will want to get over the line here and go into that final match with one hand on the trophy.

Australia U-20 Form

Australia U20 were very impressive last week when not many gave them a chance. Last season, other than upsetting the odds to beat South Africa, the Junior Wallabies were woeful against Argentina and New Zealand.

After New Zealand scored first last week, Australia U20 took control, running in some very good tries to hold a half time lead.

As was expected, the Baby All Blacks fought back in the second half, dominating most facets of play. The never-say attitude of the Wallabies shown through though, scoring two late tries to force a 29-29 draw.
