South Africa are favourites to win with the handicap set a 3.5. Australia does, however, have a tendency of getting results at this level against South Africa, so I am backing the Junior Wallabies to win against the odds.

Australia U20 will be hopeful of a strong year in 2025 after struggling for a few years recently. They had a decent Rugby Championship earlier this season, finishing second to New Zealand.

In round one of the tournament, the Baby Wallabies drew 29-29 against New Zealand. It was followed by an impressive 29-24 win over South Africa.

In the final round, the Aussies won a tight contest against Argentina 40-36. Being unbeaten wasn’t enough as New Zealand pipped them to the title by one point.

South Africa U20 Form

South Africa have threatened to break loose in the last two years but seem unable to really get into gear. The perfect example of this was during the Rugby Championship earlier this year.

Playing host to the tournament, the Baby Boks would have fancied their chance. They won their first game 36-25 to Argentina before dominating and building a good lead against Australia.

However, a second half collapse saw the Wallabies bounce back to win 29-24. In their final game, against the old foe, the Baby Boks took New Zealand to the wire, losing 48-45 in a thrilling encounter.
