This is set to be an interesting contest with Australia showing some inconsistent form. Italy have taken some big sides very close this year, so I am backing the Italians on the +5.5 handicap and perhaps an upset win.

Italy U20 Form

Italy U20, like their national side, has continued to improve over the last few years. The talent coming through has certainly been nurtured a lot better than a decade ago.

During the Six Nations this year, Italy beat Scotland away before losing by two points to Wales. France thrashed them and England won by nine points, but Italy bounced back to win their final game 15-12 against Ireland.

During the World Championship, Italy U20 lost 14-5 to New Zealand in their opening before beating Ireland 18-16. Italy needed a victory in their last game to give themselves a shot at a Championship semi, but they drew 19-19 against Georgia.

Australia U20 Form

Australia showed some promising signs earlier this season during the U20 Rugby Championship. They drew their opening game against New Zealand before a superb comeback win over South Africa. Victory over Argentina followed to secure second place.

The World Championship, however, saw the Junior Wallabies make a nightmare start. From the get-go against South Africa, they were second best and were hammered 73-17. Australia did bounce back to beat Scotland 34-24 in their second game.

In their final fixture of the group stage, Australia U20 were in fine form against a good England side. It was a very tight contest, eventually won 36-33 by England.
